Which bike bag? I'm starting to bike to the grocery store!
I cannot decide on which pannier to get for my bike. It has to be this style (low on the frame) because the trailer behind the bike. I asked my friends on FB and so far people are evenly divided!
These bags are the same size. The green flower one is a coated/lighter material with no outside pockets or organization. The city scene one is recycled canvas and has outside pockets, but no internal organization. I like both. The green matches the trailer bags better, but the the city scenes one matches the bike style/vintage feel better. I would love more thoughts! First, the bike I have (just got it Saturday night - finally!): http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...3/transfer.jpg and the trailer that goes behind the bike (this is shown while pulling through the store): http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...bag_11jl_f.jpg And there is this bag: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...lightgreen.jpg How it would look on a bike (different color shown, but style is the same): http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...ig20staand.jpg Or there is this one: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...es-pannier.jpg Couple shown on a bike: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...iespannier.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g8...lMemories3.jpg Would love some input! |
I like the second option bag!

We haven't had bikes since we lived in Chicago, but despite it being hilly here, it's a "get out and move" type community. I'm so excited about it. And you know, posting these pictures all in a row (versus having them in different tabs/windows on my computer) helps me see them better with the bike. I think I prefer the second bag too. (which I always had a slight preference for, but it's a bit more expensive, but not by much). It fits the bike better and my personality too. But I still want more input! (or if you know of other companies besides Basil that sells fashionable bike bags!) |
Seems like you've made up you mind and they both look great! (Although I think the belt buckles on the second one might drive me crazy... seems like it would take forever to close/open them all.) I just got this bag at modernbike.com for $34 (50% off regular price)!! There were a couple of other patterns too.

Now I totally want one of these! I love these bags! Thanks for the inspiration. Definitely going on my wish list......

I just rode my bike to the grocery store for the first time - 1.6 miles there and 1.6 miles back - all on wooded, paved paths through the town. It was absolutely AWESOME. WHereas the streets going there are quite hilly, the paths somehow bypass the worst of it. I only had to get off the bike and walk about 15 feet and in a couple weeks, I won't even need to do that. I filled up the burley shopping trailer and the ride home was easy as most of it is downhill.
So awesome! I love getting workouts in that way - moving with a purpose! BTW, I ordered the second bag - It's a Basil bag. It has clasps, not straps like it appears for opening. At least clasps is what the description says. I am so stinkin' psyched that I can EASILY ride to the grocery store and back to get our groceries. I'm greening it up! |
That second bag is so cute! Happy biking!
