Default Who has had gall stones removed recently?

My grand daughter is having some gall stones removed today. Why they are waiting until 5 or 5:30 is beyond me. They admitted her late afternoon yesterday.

I have a few questions.

1. Will they only remove the stones?
2. Why are they making her wait so long?
3. Why not remove the entire gall bladder so she won't go through this again?

Poor thing has been in agony for the better part of a week. She kept going to the ER and they kept sending her home. She can't even nurse the baby right now. Baby T is finally starting to take to a bottle but I'm sure misses Mommie.

Please keep my daughter TK, grand daughter Mel and her husband Justin in your prayers. Baby T is 5 months old.

Thanks.

I hope it goes well! I had my gallbladder removed because of gallstones a few years ago and it was the right decision. It was a relatively easy recovery too. Gallstones run in my family. In my case they removed the gallbladder, not just the stones. I'm sorry she has had to wait so long!

Thinking of you.

I am so sorry she is going through all that, but I hope she tries to continue to nurse the baby. Is she pumping to keep up her milk supply? That would be so sad if she gave that up.

It looks serious. There is a stone lodged in a duct. She will be seeing a GI specialist tomorrow for yet another procedure to remove the lodged stone.

Thanks for the prayers.
