Digital Cameras

  • I have been looking for a digital camera for the past couple weeks, I had a Kodak z915 which I had to take back after a week or so because the lens would not go back in. That was back in June was thinking of buying another one because I loved it but it sold out on amazon, walmart(where i got it before) does not sell it no more, and the other sites I know dont have it.

Has anyone have or had a camera around 10mp(not under) and 10x zoom under 300$ that takes really good pictures and has different modes?
  • i have a sony cybershot, its 14MP, only 4x optical zoom though so maybe not right for you, but it's a great camera, takes great pics! think it cost around £120 (i'm not sure because my ex bought me it) which is around $200 i think? but it might be cheaper in the states, as alot of things are lol.
  • Im checking out Staples on Wednesday and see if they have a camera there, im so picky its hard!
  • ooh we have staples here, i love that place! i nagged my ex for ages for blowing so much money on my camera but i really love it, i could never go back to a rubbish one now.
  • I never been to staples so hope they have something I want! Its hard finding a good camera, walmart sells almost nothing, the last time I went to Target to look for a camera the security thing kept going off cause it needed new wires and couldn't look at a camera I wanted, and bestbuy is too expensive
  • I use the Canon SX130IS when I'm not using my DSLR, and I'm always surprised at how nice the pictures come out. Sometimes when I'm looking back through my computer at pictures taken in good lighting, I can't tell right away which camera they came from.
  • I have a Canon SX20IS 12.1 MP, 20x optical zoom/80x digital. It was about $365 a year ago.
  • have you tried amazon? or do you prefer to actually see the camera before you buy? i'm a total net shopping addict but maybe with a big purchase it's better to see it first.
  • When my Canon S2 IS died last summer i needed something quick and cheapish, bought a Fuji S1800, 12 mp 18x, it's actually a pretty nice camera but a litle bulky/cumbersome to haul around. I have since bought a small compact and find i take it with me most times because it is so portable, i love it actually, Kodak M580 14 mp 8x, truthfully neither is the best at low light but outside shots are very nice, inside with sufficient light / flash are fine.

Personally the extended zoom i always desire but can't take a shot that isn't blurry at greater zoom for the life of me without my tripod anyways which is a true pain to carry, so 8x is actually a pretty good compromise for me, if i had to choose it would be the Kodak, true you lose some manual settings / ability but it's all about tradeoffs and i'm no photo aficionado anyways , i bought it for 120 canadian, last i was in staples it was still the same price which makes it affordable IMO.

Just my 2 cents worth, i'd be sure to look at the cameras in person before buying one though, although researching others opinion/reviews online sure helps too.
