I would not go to NYC in July. When we lived there, I found the summers to be miserable...and I am from the deep south, I know from long, hot, humid summer. NYC is a spring or fall or even dead of winter trip, but the summers are brutal.

Domestically, I like New Orleans and Santa Fe. I am also very partial to Hawaii.

Going abroad, I like southern Italy or Switzerland. I wouldn't do Italy in summer. The rest of the year it should be fine.

What do you like to do? I'm kind of into history and museums so anything in the North East makes me happy. I've been to Washington DC plenty of times. I can recommend that for any occasion. Definately check out the Mall, The Art Galleries, The Smithsonian, The White House, Library of Congress etc. That city is a walkers and runners paradise and the best part about it is the main areas in the center there is virtually no crime because of all the security for heads of state and such.

Some other historical cities that can be walked are Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston.

If you decide on any of these places check back. I have some area recommendations! Have fun. :)

I go to Vegas all the time and never gamble, BTW. There's a ton to do there that has nothing to do with gambling. But, then, I live just six hours away so it's worth it. I love Vegas for a fun weekend getaway.

i'm going to tell you to go to nyc, because i'm hidiously biased- i'm from there. but nyc in july..eek. its HOT HAZY and HUMID. granted, sometimes, its not that bad. but it swelters. also, the city is also a mad house in the summer, as there are so many other tourists. if you can get out there a little earlier, like may, go for it. weather won't be as brutal. but i love nyc. and if you do go, please do visit the outer boroughs- brooklyn, queens especially. so many little gems- restaurants, neighborhoods, little shops, and also, a little cheaper than manhattan. also- don't be afraid of the subway. cheapest way to get around :) and efficient!
i currently live in seattle, and july is beautiful here. sun, no humidity, mountains- really pretty. if you and your hubby like doing the outdoors, good vacay spot. you can also do the rainier valley, and there is decent nightlife and plenty of good restaurants here.
anyhow, if you wind up going to nyc (or want to know more about seattle), please feel free to PM me with questions!
