50 Things that REALLY Matter
 

I am off work today and catching up on some chores I have neglected while working out of town. I recently purchased a children's book of Bible stories I like in anticipation of my future GRANDchild/ren :)

Anyway, our bookshelf is getting quite full so I decided to allow some books to head to new homes. I ran across one my ex-wife gave to me as a gift for my 50th birthday almost 7 years ago. It is a cool little book on 50 things that really matter in life.

It was easy to let that book go...no :nono: not because my ex gave it to me ;) we were friends then and still 20 years after our divorce. I can give it away because the things in the book are other people's things...not mine...I have my own things that REALLY matter to me :)

One of them being the list of "50 Things I Love About My Daddy" that my daughter :hug: made and gave me on my 50th birthday :yes:

We all have people in our lives that matter to us, so I don't think we need to list them....but...events with them should most definitely be added.

I won't list all 50 of mine just yet but I will start with this one ~

One thing that REALLY matters in my life is that my adult children still take time out of their lives to make mine better....last night they gave up their Halloween evenings to dress as pirates and help Angie and I with our Trunk Or Treat event at church :) Awesome kids...just awesome :love:

Getting a phone call minutes ago from my son telling me my first GRANDchild will be a girl! :)

One thing that REALLY matters in my life is having the opportunity to vote!

Having two golden retrievers that love their walks really matters to me in life...

One thing in life that really matters to me is a sister that texts she loves me for no reason other than that.

Got a text from my son this afternoon....

Hey pops...want to meet me at our sportsbar on Saturday for beer and pizza and watch some college football?....

Things that REALLY matter to me in life....

having a husband who makes me want to smack him at times but still gives me the butterflies when he gives me that smile after almost 25 years...

Another thing in my life that REALLY matters is....

the blessing I have of hearing my wife play bells in the bell choir at church..

this morning they rocked!

Congratulations on the upcoming baby girl. "Grands" are the best! A little girl will wrap grandpa around her little finger.

The simple things in life are what matter most to me. Family to love and laughs to share.

My husband, who loves and supports me no matter how ridiculous I am at times!

My children who are now 21 and 23 who always let me know how much they love me and say I'm the best mom ever. It doesn't get better than that!

CONGRATS!!! Aww- nothing but pink ribbons and princesses for the next few years. You are going to have a blast. :)

One thing that really matters to me is being able to spend a few minutes in nature everyday. I'm stuck in an office at work and regardless of the weather, I always make it a point to take a walk (even a short one in cruddy weather like this) and really enjoy the fresh air and life outside of a stuffy building.

One thing in life that REALLY matters to me is having a wife that will sit in the family room and not complain that I remote between NASCAR and 2 football games for scores while she tries to watch a movie that we both agreed on :)

One thing that really matters to me is having my 82 year old mom living with me. I have learned much about her and myself the past 4 years.

Another thing is having a husband who suggested mom come live with us...and he even puts up with her and I having moments of silliness. :)

One thing in life that REALLY mattered to me was listening/watching and going to to Dodger baseball games with my dad as I grew up....a tradition that carried over to my son....the love of baseball....

I couldn't begin to count the hours we have shared as a family because of baseball (and other sports) in all ways....

hope my GRANDdaughter soon to be born in March loves it...lol

One thing that REALLY matters in my life is having enough food for dinner...

(We hand out really nice food baskets to those requesting it, at church, for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter...along with daily requests of course...the usual need is 30-40.....we have well over 100 requests this year)
