Build Your BURGER Here!
With Memorial Day week-end and Summer almost here I was wondering what you're putting on your burger :)
We are celebrating Memorial Day Thank-You TROOPS Everywhere :thanks: as a family on Sunday afternoon with a BBQ and shuffleboard tournament :) For our BBQ we will have burgers and brats  With 20-25 folks being here everyone has their favorite fixins.... Here is what I'll have this time... Brat ~ Nice Kaiser roll with hot mustard, a little horseradish and sauerkraut :hungry: Burger ~ Nice wheat bun with swiss cheese, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, regular mustard  Angie and I thought about our grilled sourdough parmesan burgers but with the crowd it would be difficult...it's killer though... as Rachael says and we know you all love her ;) Yum-O :) What's your burger or favorite option lookin' like? |
I love a good burger, can't beat it.
Nothing fancy on mine. The usual fixings lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and relish. Oh and some nice cheese. Don't forget the sides. Baked beans, potato salad and corn on the cob. |

Also macaroni salad is a great side to go with burgers;D |

What? No green chile? Green chile is a must. Everything else (including the burger and the bun) is optional.

Good thing I'm not going to any BBQs this weekend. :p |
Dill pickle, onion, mustard, jalapenos and a little real mayo or ranch salad dressing.
Never been a ketchup fan, and after years with a guy that put ketchup on everything I rarely use it. |

BBQ sauce on everything,,,yes yes yes.
Forego the bread you will do better with cals. |
Grilled 93/7 lean hamburger on a wheat bun. Mustard, onion, pickles and fat free cheese.
Turkey hotdogs with wheat buns Baked beans mustard potato salad for everyone except me.. baked chips |
Bummer....I think I am skipping the avocados....way too pricey right now...
cool for Angie and I but no way I'm paying $1 a piece ....my family could eat a tree of avos if available! They'll have to survive with the bus load of meat and buns I bought today...plus whatever they all bring. BABY CATCHER I went with the big can of diced green chilies! |
I'm waiting until I can go back to Serbia late June/early July and get a big ol' Pljeskavica. :D
Pljeskavicas are basically hamburgers... except they have a mix of beef, pork, and lamb in the meat. And the bread is homemade bread. I always have on it: Slatki Kupus (like saurkraut... except not) Luk (diced onions) Ketchup (self-explanatory... :p ) i malo ljuto (paprika) So yeah... I'm really looking forward to that... :D I'll continue on and ignore the whole "memorial day" fatty stuff... and wait for that. :p Because I'm not a "burger" person... but pljeskavicas... well... :) |
Burgers are on the menu tonight. Whole wheat buns, 97% sirloin, red onion, fresh tomato and lettuce. A little no fat mayo. Ketchup and mustard. Oh, and pepper jack cheese. Baked beans on the side.
Gary. Yumm--avocado. Love them. Never buy them as no one else will eat them with me. So sad. We have a local grocery here that sells the most amazing jalapeno burgers. Perhaps Monday we'll bbq some of those! |
I like my burgers a little black on the outside...with that nice grilled flavor. Wheat bun loaded with a ton of pickles, mustard, ketchup and some sauteed onions. Yum.
|
Our holiday was last weekend and we had steak. But if I could have a burger this weekend? Two patties, no bun, tomato, cucumber, onion and cottage cheese.
Do any of you make broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, onion etc in Italian dressing? I call it hard vegetable salad <shrug> |

This one had chopped cabbage, onion, carrots, broccoli (and possibly something else) with olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Delish! |
I'm a purest... 85% ground beef grilled medium with dark sear marks... american cheese, on a lightly toasted Sara Lee hamburger roll; ketchup on one side, mustard on the other... CHIPs... and a Corona w/lime
|
i'm a burger snob- no beef for me! Buffalo burger- mixed w/ some finely chopped onion, worchestershire sauce, salt & pepper. instead of buns we usually use bread, something fresh from the bakery, and for sauce i smash up half an avocado with two spoons of ff or lite sour cream and some Uncle Dans ranch dressing mix. YUUUM!! toss on some cheese and tomato, onion, lettuce, etc and happiness ensues. buffalo tastes so much better.
|
LIZZIE I had my first buffalo burger tonight! Angie and I went to Fuddruckers and they have some new choices from when we were there last...buffalo, ostrich...soon to have elk....
anyway, I ordered one after reading your post...very tasty...a bit "spicy"? I will get it again. Later kids.... |
This makes me hungry! So excited for a picnic Monday! :D
I'm burger boring. Just ketchup and mustard for me. But my friend (going to her house Monday) found cheese at the grocery store.. buffalo cheddar, spicy! Never had it, she said it looks really good. So, will add a slice of that on there. Mmm.. I love picnic foods. |
EZ- so was it made out of buffalo or was it "buffalo" flavored like buffalo wings?
hmm ostrich would be weird. |
LIZZIE ~ This is what they served me :)
|
We make our own "meat mix". 1/2 ground turkey and 1/2 ground pork. We did 2 nights of burgers recently. One was our meat mix and the other was ground beef. We prefer our meat mix now. It has gotten to where we don't like ground beef any more.
|
Memorial day was so amazing for me. We didnt get fancy, however the regular burger on a wheat bun, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and my new favorite thing, one slice of grilled pineapple. This was some really epic eating hahahah
