while we're at it - i am not only NOT pregnant- i am also no a man, and i am not DEAF!
people. hate them. |
Last year, I overheard my students talking about me, trying to figure out if I was pregnant. It was a bit of a downer :(
I had the opposite happen yesterday, I was walking by two of my former students and heard one ask the other if I had a baby (assuming that I was pregnant when I was their teacher last year). Then he said, "she looks so different it's crazy." I'm much happier with them thinking I had a baby than thinking that I am currently pregnant. . . But it's still weird. And I will never get over how much they talk about me when I am standing right there. I love how teenagers think you can't hear things :) |

I would totally take that as a NSV!!! It sucks when people think you are preggers and you are not, but when a teenager actually notices a change especially when you have lost.....a sign you are doing something right :carrot: |
I'm a social worker, and I've had a client ask me if I'm pregnant. I thought it was kind of silly, because my fat isn't solely focused in my belly.
It actually didn't bother me as much as I would have thought, and I still don't know why that is. Probably because knowing this person, it wasn't meant to be mean-spirited. But still, I'm not sure why you'd actually say that to someone. I never, ever assume someone is pregnant, even if it's very obvious...just because goodness knows, the one time I do I'll be wrong :P |
I've only had this happen once, and whats horrible is I was about 13 or 14 at the time. I went to have some bloodwork done and as the woman was drawing my blood she asks me, when is the baby due?
Yeah, I was crushed. She got all flustered when I told her I wasn't pregnant, I was just fat... |
Had this happen probably about 6 months ago when I was at my HW of 285. I carry ALL of my weight in my tummy. I have PCOS and Diabetes and that tends to not help the matters of tummy fat. I know I look pregnant and am surprised I haven't been asked that before.
I was wearing a shirt that tied right under the boobs so I think it accented my tummy even more. I liked it... I threw it out that night though! Oh and I just told her that I wasn't and moved on. =) It is definitely not fun to hear though. |

I've never been mistaken for being pregnant but once when I was out on a date (and I weighed a much healthier weight at the time, though still a bit "thick") the guy and I were at a little late night diner place after a midnight movie we attended. I ordered a club sandwich and a coke. The waitress says "diet coke?" and I said "No, just coke." and then when she brought the food she put my plate down and says "club sandwich...light on the mayo" and he and I both thought it was way rude to decide my order for me...diet pop, light mayo... so we left her no tip.

i am an x-ray tech, and i've had nurses ask me before if i have a safe job for my "condition." it's so difficult to keep your cool in a work environment like that.
i've had people approach me at church, asking if i was excited... and of course i ask, "for what?" and then promptly tell them.. "nope. just fat." i NEVER assume... i have to ask ppl all the time at work "if there's any chance they might be pregnant" and generally, ppl just say, "nope, had a tubal!" but that is SO different than just approaching someone and asking IF they're pregnant! |
