3FC history?

I'd love to hear how this site came to be. Seems that with a name like 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet, there must be a fun/interesting story behind it! Who are the 3 Fat Chicks and what inspired them to start this site?

If you click on 'about us', there is a short snippet talking about the 3 sisters.

Jennifer and Suzanne have been actively involved in the site for many years and still are very much involved. Amy has been around sporadically over the years. You will sometimes see Jennifer or Suzanne post here or there although Suzanne likes to be behind the scenes :)

3 Fat Chicks on a Diet: Because We're All in It Together -a book they wrote about their journey.

On their lifelong quest to lose weight, Suzanne, Jennifer and Amy Barnett, three delightful sisters from Tennessee, have tried every popular diet. They’ve busted sugar, cut carbs, flushed fat, counted calories, and gorged on grapefruit. They kept hitting roadblocks on the road to skinny until they realized that what they needed didn’t come in a magic pill but in one another.

They started this website as a way to track their weight-loss progress and found a community of dieters who were also at war with their waistlines and ready to support and encourage them every step of the way. Join the ride as Suzanne, Jennifer and Amy gather up chicks from around the world—from stay-at-home moms to biker-chicks, to sweet-sixteens to high-powered executives—to share their ups and downs of dieting.

Good read ...it is how i stumbled across the site. Not trying to pomote anything just answering the question.

P.S. - the middle two paragraphs were from Amazon reviews on their website.

Thanks for the info, that's really interesting!

The book is interesting and I have it. It appears that Amazon has it right now for $2.56! You could also see if your library happens to have it. It isn't really about the history of 3FC but you do get some insights from the sisters and what not.

Interesting. I remember when I was in a bookstore in St. Augustine a while back seeing it on the counter for sale. At the time I didn't buy it, but I remember it being around $15.00. The price Nellie said it was going for on Amazon is excellent!
