Sounds like your weather is great...any way you can make sure it stays that way? I will be in the area the end of the month thru mid Feb. and I could surely use sunshine.

We have at least 5 inches of snow on the ground and it is cold. Looking forward to heading West.

Oh, didn't ya know San Diego is almost always perfect? I'll pull some strings for ya and see what I can do for ya! What brings you to SD? If you need any info about anything, let me know and I'll help you out (places to go, deals, freebies etc.).

Well, week after this one it's projected to be in the high 60s, so we might be getting into our "cold" season! ;) You never know, it might even rain. But really, San Diego "rain" is "paltry drizzle" everywhere else, so I think you'll be fine. ;)

Trust me, there will be plenty of sunshine for you even if you happen to be here for a "rainy" day. Why, our Targets have bathing suits for sale right now! :beach:

I am visiting our sons in SD. Was there for 3 days two years ago and 2 days the year before that. Loved it so much I decided on 3 weeks this time.
I would REALLY like to spend winters there if I could find a seasonal rental and will look while I am there.
And, yes, the son is always telling us the weather is perfect. He says he does not even own a coat.
Did I mention I love SD?

Bathing suits?? Yikes.
I was wondering if it would be warm enough to walk on the beach..but I guess that answers that. :)

When I visited San Diego, it was so lovely. Cool in the shade, warm in the sun. I loved the most when it "rained". I felt a soft mist on my cheek for about 3 seconds and then it was over. I was like, "That was it?" haha.

It is noon here right now.... north San Diego county coast....73 degrees and sunny.

it's 28 freezing degrees here in Brooklyn, bbbbbbrrrrrr

remember that kid in A Christmas Story who has so many layers, he can't move his arms? that's me going outside here.

I once was a Calif person reveling in the warm temps and sunshine....sigh

Coat? I think I have one around here somewhere...I usually have a thin fleece with me...does that count? :shrug: I don't own a scarf or a winter hat, but I think I know where a pair of gloves is... ;)

I was just there a couple weeks ago for 2 weeks and it was chilly the entire time we were there, except for the last 2 days and yeah I wore a coat/sweatshirt for all but the last 2 days :) We didn't walk on the beach because the day we were going to the beach it was a bit too chilly and windy.

The weather is a bit unpredictable in winter though, you can get chilly days, you can get warm days.

Oh, it was miserable! My friends and I kept looking at each other and saying, "We live in San Diego, right?" One of my friends rents a house on Banker's Hill that was built in the 30s, and has no heating. It dropped into the 40s overnight inside her house! The worst part about it all is that we're not built for cold--the houses don't really have insulation, the businesses don't heat themselves, and everyone walks around like zombies. It's really hard to find proper cold-weather clothes, too. If I had to I could go to REI, I'm guessing, and get a down coat to wear in the cold, but other than REI it's rare to find such things in stores.

But it was 78 yesterday and today, so hopefully that was our cold weather for the season. :)

I think I must just have bad luck, last winter it was cold and then the week after we left it hit the 80s :)

My mom is funny though, you would laugh at her, she is constantly wearing coats, sweaters, gloves and she even has ear warmers!! I live where there is snow and I don't even have ear warmers. She just gets cold so she bundles up during winter. She also freaks out when we do have snow but I tell her that we are equipped for it. A snow storm in San Diego would shut the city down but here, its nothing.

I was thinking of taking my fleece jacket and will be wearing a quilted vest and sweater when we leave this great frozen ice bowl. I leave my winter coat with my daughter at the airport and she will bring it when she picks me up...so thinking the vest and sweater will be fine..arriving in SD at night, so should be ok.

The bad news is we usually drag cold weather with us wherever we go..so if that is the case this time, I apologize to SD.

Sue - I'd recommend taking a variety, a couple sweaters, at least one jacket that could handle 40 degrees, a pair of light gloves, some long sleeve shirts and short sleeve shirts. When I was there this past time, I didn't wear any of my short sleeve shirts and I bought one pair of capris which I didn't wear either.

We are looking at rain rain rain all next week....

Feb. can be cold...or warm....figure cold.....
