Things We LOVE About FALL
Fall is coming soon...here are some things I love about fall...
#1 ~ Football :carrot: ...Fight On USC!! #2 ~ I can take a long walk, with my wife and dogs, and come home with the same size shirt as when I started out :) #3 ~ I love the fall colors we have with the turning of the trees...OK...so we don't have that here in Southern California...but I love the pictures you all post! #4 ~ :happ3: #5 ~ I can retire the "bag balm" for nine months ;) HOW ABOUT YOU? |
I grew up in Minnesota and it was the custom in the fall to rake up the fallen leaves and burn them. I love the smell of burning leaves., don't know if they do that anymore due to environmental reasons.
|
1- the awesome colors here in the my area--WV/VA/MD/PA all within a half hour drive
2-the humidity is finally gone...no more feeling "wet" upon going outsiode 3-all the craft fairs--there is at least one every week for me to go to for the next six weeks well, that's a start... |
1.) Soup. Yumms.
2.) Pumpkins... I love the colors and the designs people create with them! 3.) Halloween! BOO!! Haha! 4.) The great views from the tops of mountains. I live in the Adirondacks and our fall foilage is amazing! 5.) Jogging. The weather is perfect this time of year for it! Ahh I just love fall! |
Cinnamon/clove/allspice and all the wonderful smells that abound--through cooking, candles or whatever!
Baked Apples. HALLOWEEN! Opening the windows and doors. Things just seem more bountiful in FALL! I guess the idea of harvests or whatever--possibly the ideas of Thanksgiving intertwined. Getting cozy with family and staying in. HAVING INCREDIBLE WEATHER FOR RUNNING! RUN, RUN as fast as you can! |
My fabulous woods and meadow scenery
Apples and their smell The swish of walking through fallen leaves My fall crocuses - "Naked Ladies" Thanksgiving in October Blue and gold days Sweaters The first fire in the woodstove I could go on forever but won't. |
Mums (My favorite flower)
Apples (Honeycrisp are coming next week to farmers market) Bonfires (Going to one tonight) Chili, Pumpkins, Halloween, Thanksgiving We like taking a scenic train ride through the countryside when the leaves are different colors. |
the smell in the air! that feeling when you know summer is ending.
i love pumpkins and halloween, and apple season! The amazing colors here in Oregon- the trees are so beautiful. not getting sweaty walking to the bus stop! :) wearing pants again. |
It doesn't seem like fall here, yet, still warm and muggy...but:
I love the weather when it's cool... you can walk ANYTIME of the day... not just morning or night.
I love the turning leaves, and I love the smell of leaves burning. I love going to the zoo and taking a picnic for the park. I love knowing Thanksgiving is on it's way. I love fall decorations, leaves, pumpkins, brown and yellow and orange. I love a little bit of candy corn. It just doesn't taste good any other time of year...but once or twice in the fall is soooo yummy. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie and pumpkin pudding with lots and lots of cool whip. Fall is my favorite time of year, really. Seems I remember more good memories when I was a kid when it was the fall season...playing football, playing outside and my dad would actually come out and play with us because it wasn't too hot or too cold. He didn't play with us much, but when he did, it just seemed soooo much fun. Fall is an amazing time of year...and it is really fun to look forward to the holidays coming around the corner. :cheer2: |
the colors on the trees, raking those leaves up, and best of all the comfrotable crisp fall air. alright maybe the apple pies and the pumpkins.
|
No Bugs
|
Walking around San Diego Harbor, looking at the sidewalk art show....without a hat!
AND having lunch in a sports bar while we watched college football! YIPEE! |
I love driving through a forest with all the trees changing colors. I love fall.
|
The cool nights.
Turning off the air conditioner. The colours on the trees. Soup, yes. No awful heat and humidity. I love Autumn. Forgot, baseball playoffs :) |
Football, and the colors changing, and the cool air.
|
Everything....Fall in the midwest is amazing!!!
|
I agree ^
The leaves are falling and turning colors. Love the smell in the air. No humidity, cool nights. I love sweater weather. |
Cross country---of course!
Soccer games! Roasting green chile---yummo! Hot air balloons. Halloween. Pumpkins! Squash! The excitement of back to school and brand new experiences. |
When I read this thread awhile back I thought to myself, I can't wait to check out my favorite tree, a massive maple tree and its Autumn colors just make me happy... I drove over there today and it was gone...:( just his stump was left. Funny how some things make you sad... Apparently we lost it in the massive ice storm last December...
But.... on the way home, I saw my 'new' favorite... a mightly oak... all yellow... and so handsome.. So my answer is the trees and leaves, ... and my new Pumpkin Spice Yankee candle... |
X-Country of course! so true Baby Catcher!
Trees still mostly green here....rare that Palm Tree leaves turn to orange/red/yellow.... |
My favorite thing about fall is that it still feels like summer most days. ;)
|
I love it when it gets chilly and I have to bundle myself up. Especially this Fall since last Spring I bought a new winter coat (Anne Klein, *ahem* ;)). I can't wait to wear it! I'm also planning on buying a pair of mittens. :)

I love fall for the smells- of soups, fresh new apples and pears, mushrooms, cinnamon and spices. And I love drawing the curtains and lighting some candles now that it gets dark earlier. |
I love going for walks in the forests, smelling the leaves and the earth, listening to the birds, feeling the fresh air and not sweating. Beautiful time of year! Unfortunately winter has to follow.

|
"Feeling" the coolness as you walk your dogs...like yesterday morning...although it did get over 100 before the day was over...but oh my was the morning glorious!
