My new issue of AARP came today...

THE BOSS....SPRINGSTEEN turns 60!!! yes I said 60...in September...

Bob Newhart.....80!...ouch!

Twiggy...60...has it been that long?

Tai Babilonia and Marie Osmond....half a century....how can that be?

GRACE SLICK....70...WHAT!!!?...you gotta be kidding me...70...just yesterday she was rockin' the Starship wasn't she?

Bruce Springsteen is 60 !! Where was I when that was happening ? And Grace Slick is 70 !!! I always liked Grace Slick but it must be a miracle that she has lived this long !! And isn't Marie Osmond just a toddler singing on Andy Williams show ? What ever happened to Andy Williams anyway ?

Yeah, it IS painful! something about the people I grew up with being so old, really helps me grasp the concept that I - yes I - am so old!

Yet again, we are ALL only as old as we feel ;)

Was just contemplating my "older-and -wiser-ness" today when a show my daughter was enjoying sparked some recognition in me. Remember the show "The Facts of Life"? One of my faves as a young person...anyway...the MOM of the teenaged girl on this show was "Jo" from that show...the MOM! My Husband laughed and laughed at my reaction. ***jaw dropping*** ;)

Yeah!May we all be lucky enough to become 70!!

hey, I went to see the Boss, Born in the USA, ha! guess that was kind of a while ago...doh!

yeah, there was actually a time before the internet, heh heh. When I was in college, almost nobody had their own computer, there was a college computer room you could use. I also remember console tv's without romote controls. yes, we got up and turned the channel BY HAND. too funny, I'm starting to sound like my dad.

Paul McCartney is 67, Mick Jagger is 66, Jimmy Page is 65, Robert Plant is 60! :fr:

But they're all still going strong. May they all live a long life! :cool:

haha half of them have pickled their bodies - so they should be able to be preserved for quite a few more years... :)

And how come Keith Richards is still around? He's looked like death warmed over since he was 20, and he's lived SO HARD...it just isn't fair!

I was just thinking the same thing. And for the young folks - that was the first time he toured with that one ;) I was just out of college and stayed up all night to get tickets (in line not on the internet). I can't believe it was so long ago!

How about Crissy Hynde? She's still rocking at 58. My daughter went to see her recently.

The Pretenders are playing near me on Sept. 1...doubt I'll go...that brass she has in her pcket scares me...

I had 8 track tapes! that just cracks me up. pop them into the player on the dashboard....

I just heard on the radio Styx is performing nearby this summer. STYX! they have to be in their 50s or 60s. I went to a concert of theirs when I was about 20, a friend was a huge fan.


PS: I loved the Born in the USA concert, saw it at Oakland Coliseum.

I saw Styx a few years ago at the State Fair here. It was awesome. Also have seen James Taylor (fantastic show), The Guess Who, Little River Band (my favorite), REO Speedwagon, Mason Proffit and Pure Prairie League & Journey are coming this year. it seems lots of old groups are still touring, even though not all original members, I still love seeing them.

I can't believe Grace Slick is the same age as my dad! I'm guessing there was a generation gap even in that one generation, because my dad has always been as far from a rock & roll type as was humanly possible:lol:

I remember the first "date" my ex and I had after our son was born...Billy Joel at San Diego State amphitheater with either Little Feat or Little River Band...I don't remember..

I also remember taking my ex on our first real date to the reunion tour of the Beach Boys at Anaheim Stadium in '74

:D The first concert I ever went to....Creedence Clearwater Revival with Poco at the San Diego Sports Arena...with my buddies...1969.... sophmores....none of us 16 yet...my mom and dad drove us and went in...and of course sat with us...my friends thought it was cool...my parents were 34 and 31 when I was 15.5....I thought they were old ;)

my DH just loves CCR! Still gets out the old albums (yes, albums!) and cranks up the stereo often! But, Gary, in '69, I had just finished 1st grade.....I guess that's why you're getting AARP stuff already:lol: You had young parents-how did they manage?

oh, I love the Beach Boys, we used to listen to an 8 track tape of Endless Summer when we drove to Santa Cruz in our station wagon for family beach days.
