If your DH is smarter than me he'd use that time to cuddle....and go for seconds ;)

Not exactly sure RUTH but I know cool-whip takes the sting out :)

Operator265 09-03-2009 02:41 PM

'Bout time you showed up around here, Susan.

mrsaugie 09-03-2009 07:07 PM

just stopping in to say hi.

dutchgirl 09-04-2009 02:22 PM

bump

Ruthxxx 09-04-2009 03:20 PM

Three day weekend coming up and glorious weather predicted. I intend to suck the juice out of this last long weekend of our summer!

ronni62 09-04-2009 05:36 PM

We're having a wonderful weather weekend here too! It's just incredible outside-I even got sunburned while having my yard sale today....and made a bunch of money too:D

What's everyone else doing for the weekend?

Ruthxxx 09-04-2009 05:48 PM

Just spent most of the day helping the Canadian economy by getting a haircut $40, gas $40, a car wash at $10, more than $350 in casual clothes, some new plants and shrubs for $50, fresh fruits and veggies for $44 and a $122 kennel boarding bill.

I plan to spend a frugal weekend but the economy feels stimulated!

JuliaDH 09-05-2009 09:15 AM

Wow lots of stimulating round here...the birthday gifts and the economy...dh is in wisconsin..working...no stimulating at my place this weekend:(

Ruthxxx 09-05-2009 09:28 AM

Never heard it called that, Julia!

I just tasted the chili that I put in the crockpot last night and realized I put in paprika instead of chili powder. Duh! Must have been a brain fart.

mrsaugie 09-05-2009 12:34 PM

Ruth---that almost sounds like our take on it we refuse to participate. it may take some time to get what we want but if it is something that we really want we will end up buying it. but anyway good for you.

dutchgirl 09-06-2009 01:16 AM

bump again!
Is the chili still edible, Ruth? In that case call it beans Stroganoff and pretend you did it on purpose.

JuliaDH 09-06-2009 08:27 AM

Well had two eye appointments this week. I get this bummed eye fixed on Sept 15. Crazy fast timing. But that is good. DH is getting tired of my lame 1/2 blind fat girl jokes. Just trying to keep the mood "lighter", you know be a visionary in to the more humourous side of things. And I have the kids a wee bit freaked as Mommy will be able to "see" everything more clearly. No more getting away with things. No use getting depressed about it. Its all in Gods hands.

Have a wonderful morning everyone!

Ruthxxx 09-06-2009 08:36 AM

I tiddled up the chili with hot sauces and it's fine now.

Damned games are pushing us off the page. I've asked twice to get them moved but to no avail. Suzanne and Jennifer are really busy with a business move right now so it may be a while.

Sunny Sunday coming up BUT I did hear geese this morning. Maybe they were just locals not the guys that commute south. Whether we like it or not, it's starting!

dutchgirl 09-06-2009 09:17 AM

Saw the first geese come by here last week. They are early this year, it seems. great that the chili is chili again. Love the doggy avatar, he looks a sweety-pie!

Julia, it is better to get this sort of stuff over with asap, anticipation is worse than the procedure itself.

BillBlueEyes 09-06-2009 09:33 AM

Feeling tiddly here

Ruth - I do love expanding my vocabulary on this thread. I had to look up your "tiddled up the chili " and found
Somewhat drunk; tiddly
Nevertheless, that's what I'm gonna do to my chili that I'm making for my lunches next week. Can't wait.

bargoo 09-06-2009 09:37 AM

Drunk chili, never had that however the Corona as your beverage may contribute to that If the chili is hot enough you need lots of Corona or if you are watching your weight , Bud Lite.

mrsaugie 09-06-2009 09:46 AM

once in awhile we will use beer in chili. it really is not that bad depending on the beer. we usually use a darker one. and refried beans. the first time we made with beer i could not stand it but the more we made it the better it became because we started to find the right balance of ingredients.

bargoo 09-06-2009 10:24 AM

Tasting it every so often as it cooks may make it more interesting depending how much beer is added.

mrsaugie 09-06-2009 10:32 AM

that is the big thing with it how much and which kind is used makes a really big difference. we have found that the darker beers are better. but that is also the kind we prefer to drink any way.

EZMONEY 09-06-2009 05:54 PM

I'm not going to waste my corona by dumping it in my chili....

maybe my son in law's dark beer he leaves in my fridge, for me to keep "iced" down...the guy will do anything to save a buck so he doesn't have to get a real job.

dutchgirl 09-07-2009 02:44 AM

Beef stew with beer (I use ale) is lovely! And I prefer drinking ale over lager as well. On the rare occasion I drink alcohol at all.

Ruthxxx 09-07-2009 07:20 AM

Thanks, Dutch Girl. I'd forgotten about Carbonnade à la flamande. My husband used to make it a lot on cold wintry days. I must remember it this fall because there is a scent of autumn in the air this morning.

mrsaugie 09-07-2009 09:01 AM

good morning everyone.

EZMONEY 09-07-2009 09:10 AM

There is a scent of smoke in the air here from the fires.

Have a great Labor Day everyone.

Beef stew does sound wonderful! Oh yeah!....gonna see if I can find a good recipe.

bargoo 09-07-2009 11:27 AM

Love the smell of stew as it is cooking it on the stove. Doesn't hurt if you are baking biscuits, too.

mrsaugie 09-07-2009 11:41 AM

now that sounds good bargoo. stew and biscuts or fresh baked bread.

JuliaDH 09-07-2009 08:49 PM

3 kids in bed with nervous tummies. Back to school in the morning!

EZMONEY 09-07-2009 08:53 PM

I miss those days Julia....all the new "dreams"...clothes....

Homemade bread and biscuits sound good...indeed

bargoo 09-07-2009 09:25 PM

And as long as the oven is on how about a pie, blueberry is my favorite.

BillBlueEyes 09-08-2009 05:12 AM

Yay for blueberry pie

Drooling over blueberry pie. Thank goodness for this oasis within 3FatChicks where all the other threads are talking about mindful eating and other such restrictive thinking.

Ruthxxx 09-08-2009 07:04 AM

Food PORN! I love it. Right now I could go for a slice of blueberry pie but will have to settle for Fibre 1 with blueberries. ** Sigh **

The kids around here are back to school this morning. It feels like January 1! At least the weather is great. I remember many years when it was a scramble to find rainwear that first day.

Happy Tuesday.

bargoo 09-08-2009 09:37 AM

When I bought a new car a few years ago I noticed a Marie Callendar's right across the street from the dealer. If you don't have Marie's in your area, they make great pies. I decided that when I finished with the dealer I would celebrate by having lunch at Marie Callendar's. I had lunch and took a piece of blueberry pie to go. I drove 50 miles home, my mouth watering for blueberry pie, when I took a bite IT WASN'I BLUEBERRY !!! What a disappointment. A few months later my son took me to lunch at a different Marie's, same scenario, ordered a piece of blueberry pie to go. We left the restaurant and got about a half a mile away and I realized I had forgotten my pie at the restaurant.I was dismayed and thought I am just not supposed to have blueberry pie, but we went back, they had already bussed the table but they bought my story and gave me another one.

Operator265 09-08-2009 01:30 PM

Blueberry Cheesecake. Yyyuuuuuuummmmm!!!!! :hungry:

WSChick 09-08-2009 02:05 PM

Oh man..... why did ya have to go and say cheesecake LOL !

Well I'm off to my interview, super nervous.

YAY I GOT MY TRACKER :)

mrsaugie 09-08-2009 05:13 PM

BillBlueEyes 09-08-2009 06:44 PM

360 . . .

140 to go.

Ya know, this thread is detrimental to my notion of losing weight through starvation and chastity.

I'm gonna tell.
