Alrighty then... here is a Chick Lit lover. :D I haven't read those yet. I kept meaning to put them on my list to read, but some how they kept getting shoved down it. I am now going to make it re-appear ontop. Aren't there a few in that series? I thought there were?
How'd you like it? Was it a good storyline, how were the characters? Any hints or slips you care to share. I don't mind. I am the kinda gal who reads a couple paragraphs at the end of the books, just to get a sneak peak. ;)

In this case, I would advise NOT reading ahead. I got spoiled for the ending on amazon.com and I really wish I had let the story unfold - instead of knowing what would happen.

There are two books so far - Friday Night Knitting Club and Knit Two, I've only read the first one (and she wrote an unrelated book - Comfort Food which I also enjoyed). My only real complaint was how AWESOME the main character is - she's pretty saintly. It was a quick read, I enjoyed the characters (saintly as they were). I would definitely recommend at least checking it out of the library, if you are a fan of chick lit in general.

Allison - the Stephanie Plum books are quite mindless -- I like them but they can be annoying. FWIW, I've heard the extra ones (not in the numbered series) are unbearably dumb, and I heard that from a major fan. I haven't read those.

I forgot to mention earlier that I also read the 8th in the Sookie Stackhouse series over spring break. I liked it more than the few before it.

Now I'm reading Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. It's pretty good, and it's educating me about a historical event I'd never heard of! Sad, though.

Glory, Let me know what you thought of The Bright Side of Disaster. I read that last month, and enjoyed it...it was a pretty quick read too.

I'm not sure what drew me to this book, but I picked it up at Half Price Books for $6.50 It's called How to Sleep Alone in a King Size Bed by Theo Pauline Nestor. It's about a women going through a divorce. I'm about 75% through it and while I enjoy how she writes, it is a sad tale of what happens with the process of divorce. I've never experienced it myself or within my immediate family, and I must say, I've come to realize it's much harder than I ever thought it would be from reading this book...

Thanks Lisa--now I know I'm not alone with my view of Stephanie Plum. I started another between the numbers book yesterday and got one chapter done and I don't think I'll go on. Instead, I'm going to download Dog On It by Spencer Quinn. I read the first chapter and liked it--reminds me of The Art of Racing in the Rain which I enjoyed a lot. Both books are from the point of view of a dog.

I agree that the protagonist in Friday Night Knitting Club was a little too saintly! I liked the book anyway and plan to eventually read Knit Two.

I finished Sarah's Key and really liked it. Now I'm reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, though I do worry that I'll hate the end, since everyone seems to! It will probably take me a while to get through it. My 8 1/2 month old son is getting much more mobile now, so I'll soon be spending most of my time chasing after him while he crawls. Now he just sort of scoots around!

Lisa~it is a good book. Until the last chapter. IMO? The author just needed something to end with and he certainly didn't choose right!

I just finished Sense and Sensibility, then later on in the month, The Shack (interesting, for sure -- many good insights). Will soon start Read my Heart.

Sense and Sensibility is on my list. I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

I read it about every four years or so -- I want to forget the story as much as I can (aside from general plot, of course) before I read it again. I still have another six months to a year before I can read Pride and Prejudice again. And I'm "Emma-d out" for a long while.

Oh, I haven't reread any Austen in a while! I think it might be time. But my favorites are Persuasion and Mansfield Park.

You all have some great book ideas for me. I am always looking for something new to read.

I just finished Jim Butcher's Turn Coat and loved every minute of it. I ordered the new Amanda Quick (pure brain candy) Secret Poison from the library, but I am 14th in line. It might be awhile before I can read it.

In the meantime I started a fantasy/horror novel [I]The Good the Bad and the Undead[I] to keep me busy.

After all the mention of Austen I may just have to read one of her novels again. I just love her wit.

I am curious about the Friday Night Knitting Club, now I will have to see if the library has it. You all will definitely keep me busy with summertime reading.:)
