Too cold fridge
I had the fridge set so that it was the perfect temperature according to the fridge thermometer. And then I took everything out, all the shelves and drawers, scrubbed it down really good (it was FILTHY, my MIL apparently hadn't cleaned it in a very long time), and now, it's freezing. I've turned it down (up?) as far as it will go without turning off, and it's still colder than it should be. My lettuce is getting frostbitten, and nothing's quite as gross as mushy salad.
WTF? |
Annoying! I don't have any suggestions, only empathy - my stupid apartment fridge does that, and if you put anything in the back of the fridge on the top shelf it freezes. I had a big dilemma with a dozen eggs once, trying to determine if you could eat thawed eggs. (You probably can, but I decided against it.)
Way to go with a fridge cleaning though! |
Could be many different things. You didn't mention what type fridge you have (side by side, top freezer, etc.). I know my side by side tends to make things on the top two shelves frosty if stored against the left (freezer) wall.
Some things to try:
If none of these things help, then it could be one of these problems & you probably need to call a repair technician:
That's all I can think of right now. Can you tell I've had fridge issues over the years? :D Good luck and I hope it's something you can fix yourself. :) |
It's an older freezer on top type. I do have the freezer set all the way up, but I had corrected that several months ago so the fridge wouldn't freeze. Maybe there's a blocked vent... I did move things around.
I'll try moving things and lowering the freezer setting. Thanks :) |
