Is it Spring yet?

I live in the mid-west and there were 4 robins in my front yard this morning. Yay! Spring is on it's way.

I live in Ky and just saw one last week.I sure hope spring is on the way!! Im sick of ice and snow and strange weather!!

I live in Ontario, Canada. I have seen the groundhogs, skunks, and raccoons have come out of hibernation...but the sure tell-tale sign of spring for me is the red wing blackbird, the males are here about 2-3 weeks before the robins. I keep looking for them!

No robins or any signs of spring here in north Iowa yet, but I keep hoping. I hear we're to get more snow and freezing rain Wed, though, so I'm not holding my breath on warmer temps just yet;)

I love seeing the robins come back. And all of the calves showing up in the fields. Although some are born way before spring, it still makes me happy to see them! It's coming! Can't wait for green grass, flowers and leaves on the trees.

What a beautiful photo Sue.

No signs of spring here yet.

It's "spring" about once a week. We've been blessed with a very mild winter (unlike those of you in the upper midwest- eek!) and even some shots of 70 degree weather. I'm afraid March will be unkind and we're going to get blizzards instead of robins!

PearFreak 02-16-2009 02:14 PM

No signs of it here either... well an inkling of it every now and again.
Looks like we are getting snow on Wednesday and it won't stop until late Thursday, possibly Friday sometime. There goes my melty-snow and visible paved driveway.... it'll soon be covered again. Oh well, dh will enjoy using the quad and plowing it in big piles for the kids to slide down.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but an article in the paper last week said that due to warmer temps (global warming?) robins are not migrating from northern states as much and can be found all winter long now. So they really can't be reliable as a harbinger of spring anymore, at least in the midwest.

I saw a cardinal the other day and this morning was very spring like. Its actually freaking me out because we didn't have much of a winter if winter is over.

murphmitch 02-16-2009 05:56 PM

We've had a horrible winter with way above average snowfall. Had a brief warm-up last week, then 7 inches of snow Friday. Can't wait for it to be over. At least the sun is shining today!

suetalks 02-17-2009 10:45 AM

It is 25 degrees here today, so no Spring yet. :)

We have bird feeders and have cardinals, nuthatches, chickadees, woodpeckers, blue jays and more all winter. The robins however usually show up to herald Spring.

Anna: Don't burst my bubble about the robins...haha.

Our Robins are out too as well as the Bluebirds.
