I found this mildly amusing...
So I was at the local supermarket today... They really will do anything to make you think you are getting a good deal...
I saw the tomatoes sign ...behold " $0.50 each OR.......:dizzy: :chin: 2 for $1.00 !!!!! :book2: According to my calculations... there is no deal here... stupid marketing |
Lmao

I use to work in the Foods department at Wal-Mart, and my supervisor kept telling me to always double the price on the endcaps and put a "2 for" prefix on their, because psychologically people will want to buy more.
But you didn't get douped, good on ya mate! |
that's just crazy!
you should post a little post a note sticker by that sign saying DUH! |
That is TOO funny that they posted both prices!!
I see that "supermarket math" trying to trick people all the time. My current grocery store of choice (Tops) always has "X for $Y" sales but you never, EVER, have to buy X items to get the deal. Lately they've been really into the "10 for $10" thing... I wonder how many people buy 10 when they just wanted a couple, not knowing that they could just as easily get 2 for $2 or 3 for $3 or whatever. :p Gotta love retail! |
Oh yeah may- my husband is one of those "look babe 10 so and so for's $10"
I'm like great put in three- and he's like "but it says 10 for 10" and I tell him he doesn't HAVE to buy all ten, and he says "I didn't know I could do that!" But yup it if its 10 for 10, then it's 1 for 1 too! :D |
I hate it when they're listed as 3 for $5 or 6 for $10 because it's harder to figure out the unit pricing. Sometimes it's not even a sale price, but you think it is when you see it advertised.

I saw another funny one yesterday at Walmart. There were 2-packs of ketchup (you know - 2 bottles attached together) at one price. Next to them on the shelf were singles of the same size bottle, same brand, costing less to buy 2 singles than the pre-packaged 2-pack! I really wonder how many people just pick up the 2-pack believing it must be cheaper since it's marketed that way? Some of these stores are getting crazy trying to trick us out of our $$$$!

Since Walmart puts the price per oz/unit/etc on their shelf tag, I now realize that buying two of the smaller item is often a better deal than buying 1 of the large. Didn't it used to be the opposite? The bigger was the better?
