DANG! this is a long movie....

So I started watching this movie, A CHRISTMAS STORY, last night as our guests were arriving. It was our background....sound off... for the evening.

It is still on....

go figure....

lol... I had the same problem with "It's a Wonderful Life" last year.

It's a Wonderful Life was on last night, for what seemed like an eternity. Closer investigation revealed that there were commercials every 8 minutes or so...

The Wizard of OZ - hubby made me watch it half way through and when he found out they were playing back to back he made me watch the first part too. evil.

24 hours of a Christmas Story is a must in my house! I love that movie!! I torture my family with it every year, so it's entertaining on many levels for me!!

Marathon Movies

TBS has been doing a 24 hour marathon of "A Christmas Story" every year :shocksn: It's a cute movie, but once a year is enough :dizzy:

NBC owns the rights to "It's a Wonderful Life", so they show it a couple of times during the Christmas Season. I remember when it used to be on just about every channel on cable! :hohoho:

Pixiesue 12-25-2008 05:11 PM

i said exactly that about Wonderful Life just last night! Its the first time I have watched it entirely and by the end I was crying like a baby! But commercials every eight minutes AND at least eight commercials in a row each time!

I enjoy "A Christmas Story" but I don't enjoy it to the level of some people.

stellarwbz 12-25-2008 05:45 PM

My boyfriend cannot believe that I have never seen A Christmas Story from start to finish, even though they play it 24 hours on xmas.

luvja 12-25-2008 07:30 PM

That movie is a classic, probably my favourite!

I love It's a Wonderful Life it has been a fave of mine forever--I agree there are way too many commercials....

I have never been able to make it through A Christmas Story--I have seen bits and pieces. I heard on the radio something about a convention every year and visiting the actual house for tours...were they making that up????

Operator265 12-25-2008 10:56 PM

Nope. It's true. Some guy bought the house and spent big $$$ fixing it up just like the movie including the "major prize" fishnet leg lamp.

we always leave the tbs marathon on in our house, even if the sound is turned wayyy down, we leave it on in the background for traditions sake :xcheer:

lol, yeah bits and pieces are pretty much enough to remember the whole thing once you've seen it a million times

Last year, or a couple of years ago, there was some network that did a 24-h marathon of Miracle on 34th St, alternating a black-and-white showing with a colorized one, but I didn't see it listed this year
