Default Dark Circles?

So I know this is partially a hereditary thing, and it can be worsened by allergies, etc. -- but I have noted that since I have lost the weight, my circles are much worse than they used to be...completely unconnected to sleep or lack thereof. I have very fair skin and I think I may simply have less fat on my face so the skin under my eyes is thinner than it used to be, but I find it annoying. I have tried a few different concealer products, but I can't seem to find the right balance between white rings and blue smudges.

So, any suggestions? Do you have a product you really like? I have been doing the cool cucumber thing in the morning, and it helps with puffiness, but it doesn't do much for the the whole "partied all night" look...which is such a joke. More like read a good book all night while snuggled in my bed (I think I'm getting old.)

Right now, I have a cold so it is even worse than usual...and I have a black tie event on Friday night. My dress is really gorgeous, and I don't want to look like someone punched me in both eyes. OK...that is hyperbole, they aren't THAT bad, but they still irritate me. HELP!

Hmmm...maybe I should have put this in the "looking good" forum...oh, well. I haven't a clue how to move it.

As I understand it, dark circles may be due to (1) thin skin/weak blood vessels in the under-eye area or (2) darker-pigmented skin in the under-eye area.

If you have the first kind of dark circles, you might want to try Vita-K solution . . . I have this problem too, and it's definitely helped. * * * I am not affiliated with that company in any way * * * The product supposedly strengthens the capillaries, so blood doesn't pool under the skin, which creates the appearance of dark circles.

I'd also suggest you make sure you're not rubbing the area under your eyes - apparently this can aggravate the problem.

Hey, I have always had bad circles under my eyes (thin skin) but I use a stick concealer with a much deeper yellow pigment than my skin colour because the yellow counteracts the blue. I don't know what you've been using but hopefully this helps

I have the same problem Schumeany - I've always had circles, the weight loss seems to have enhanced them... I use the Mary Kay undereye solution at night before bed, and have an MK circle minimizer I put on under my powder. It helps until I rub it all off by noon... I've done the cucumber slices, ice pack over the eyes, and refrigerated eye gel. All short term solutions, but might work for a party.

Yes...I have very same problem. I have tried treatments for for them such as creams and what not, with no luck. I believe it was passed down to me from my mom, so there might not be much I can do, really.

But, I usually do what sweet talker said.

I have these too and have had them since I was little. My pediatrician called them "allergic shiners". I had tried a few things, and nothing helped.

a pastel yellow concealer - while it may look funny, really works well for concealing. I dot a little on, blend with a pinky finger and then sponge on a little of my foundation over the top to help with the yellow ring look. I set it with powder afterwards.

Mind you, it won't help anything in the long term but for the party it should be enough to cover. Just make sure not to rub your eyes.
