Quick question about GPA

I'm done with one of my classes (there's still about two weeks left in the semester though) and I have a 91%. There is an opportunity for extra credit and if I do them all I'll have, like, a 113% (I could do some and fall any where between those ranges, it's not all or nothing). Anyone know if a 113% will help my GPA or is an "A" just an "A"?

It depends on the school, but in most cases, and A is an A and anything over the lower level for an A won't help.

SOME schools are different however, so only a counselor or someone in the office can tell you for sure.

Where I went to college, an A- counted as 3.8 where as a regular A would count as a 4.0.

So yes, depending on where you go, it could make a difference. I would take counting downs advice and speak to a counselor.

Any regular university or community college will consider anything about 93% as a 4.0 for that class.

I would double check with your prof or TA. This is sort of unrelated, but when I was in college I took a class and ended up with an A- instead of an A because they didn't mark one of my assignments complete, and my college did assign different points for an A versus an A-. I could have fought it but I didn't since it was my last semester. Anyway, my point is that you should just double check to make sure they have you as an A because you were going to do the extra credit if not. I would recommend getting this in an email or something for documentation purposes, just in case. I've also been a TA and college instructor and honestly, the less extra credit I had to grade, the better!

I would certainly not stress about getting all that extra credit done. It won't matter, and you'll be spending your time on something you don't need to do when you could be spending it having fun!

Hehehe, I haven't thought about being a TA and grading stuff in forever. :) I have no good memories of high school, but a few good ones from college :).
