Tamales ... uummmmmmm

Count me in for tamales. We'll be bringing six people total.

Please be warned that DS and his GF are a bit picky about wines, so your choices will be well appreciated.

alinnell 12-19-2008 01:07 PM

Does cabernet go with Tamales?

I usually have a margarita with Mexican food, though.

Slashnl 12-19-2008 02:33 PM

Tamales sound good. Spaghetti and meatballs... great choice, too. I usually fix clam chowder on Christmas Eve, but that's just our family. Chili would be good and easy, too.

bargoo 12-19-2008 04:24 PM

Gary , if you choose Tamales will you be serving Corona or Dos Equis ?

alinnell 12-19-2008 04:33 PM

Pacifico. If not Pacifico, then Dos Equis.

And what time would you like us to arrive?

OK. Hand over the seafood lasagna and nobody gets hurt.

I wouldn't serve anything as tannic as cab with something on the spicy side. A good chianti would be great. However, if you are a wimp, you can opt for a white wine. I'd recommend a riesling.

My bad... the museum was in Apple Valley then moved to Victorville before moving to Missouri. The location you are talking about was in Victorville.

Angie and I are making meatballs on Sunday after church...a big salad and garlic bread will finish the meal...others will bring desserts.

Coronas are always in my fridge! :)

Angie knocked off the last of the chianti last night after working at yoga.

Looks like we are all up for a Mexican food get together ....I'm in :)

BillBlueEyes 12-19-2008 11:28 PM

450

... 50 to go.

Thanks for the menu update Gary. We'll be there at 6 promptly. By by by, we always arrive with a bag of Maine lobsters enough for the crowd. You'll need a 26 quart pot.

[Brace yourself: That lady with the funny calculator's gonna protest your arithmetic.]

EZMONEY 12-19-2008 11:49 PM

BILL....Angie and I went for Mexican food at our favorite tonight...the owner said he will be open Christmas Day....I am sure we can use his pots for the lobster...

let's get this party started!!!

alinnell 12-19-2008 11:51 PM

My DD came home from college today and brought me a gift.

A Burnt Sienna crayon.

Seems SOMEWHERE I posted (said)???? that it was my favorite color but I thought they didn't make it any more. She bought crayons (to make handmade Christmas cards for her friends) and found a Burnt Sienna crayon and gave it to me.

Can someone say 'sweet?'

EZMONEY 12-19-2008 11:57 PM

Awesome Allison!

My nephew came home tonight for his first NAVY leave ....for a few minutes before going with friends...and gave me a "I love you Uncle Gary hug"....and a pile of dirty laundry!

bargoo 12-20-2008 10:31 AM

Gary, have you set a date food get together ? I make a great chile verde.

Ruthxxx 12-20-2008 10:35 AM

Hurry up, folks. I leave on Monday and want to be on hand to close this thread. (I have simple pleasures in my life these days - pretty pathetic!)

srmb60 12-20-2008 10:45 AM

Here's one.

alinnell 12-20-2008 11:10 AM

Bargoo~care to share your recipe? My chile verde usually comes out of a bottle and I just add pork. While it's good, nothing is better than homemade.

I'm with you, sister. I've had to cut back from my two forums to about 2-3 threads on each. This one is my favorite. I'm very protective of it.:rollpin: I started a thread couple of days ago that I thought was pretty benign and now got hurt feelers going on. Fagget about it. Some people just can't take a joke. :dz:

OK, so anyhoo. I'm not bringing the liquor or beer. UT stinks for that. Beer is 3.2 and everything else is WAAAY expensive. I'll make the Pico de Gallo as long as everyone brings some asbestos to line their tongues with.:hot: Better have some full fat milk and sour cream on hand. Those can be real lifesavers on Mexican Nite.

I saw that one and was going to post that I agree with you, but it was already starting to explode... so I chickened out and came running back to this one! ha! We don't need no stinkin hurt feelings here!!!

srmb60 12-20-2008 11:46 AM

Our safe haven.

I'll share but let's get past the holidays first.......you may need to remind me.

CruiseCAT 12-20-2008 01:04 PM

Speaking of chili.... I'm making the White Chili that is posted on this site. Did a little tweaking and have it in the Croc Pot. Sure smells good!!!

WebRover 12-20-2008 03:14 PM

I'll make homemade herb bread. I made 6 loaves Tuesday night for a luncheon at work. Prefer yours with olive oil or butter on top?

Olive oil or butter....hummm...BOTH!!

bargoo 12-20-2008 10:35 PM

Love olive oil on herb bread, but butter is a vice of mine. Almost anything is better with butter.

EZMONEY 12-20-2008 11:00 PM

Can you eat a whole stick of butter BARGOO? My step-daughter can/did! but then she was 3...

bargoo 12-21-2008 12:32 AM

I made toast one morning and left the butter out on the counter. I went out for awhile and when I came back my dog had a smug little smirk on his face as he swaggered past me. Yep, he ate most of the butter I had left on the counter. I didn't make that mistake again.

Operator265 12-21-2008 01:19 AM

Dogs are smarter than people.

After all, Gary's dogs totally own him, right after Angie that is.

BillBlueEyes 12-21-2008 03:50 AM

Butter first

I'll have the butter on the herb bread, thank you very much,

with a little olive oil on the side for dipping should the mood strike.

[Note to self: Being 3FC, there won't be any calories in butter, olive oil, or herb bread.]

BillBlueEyes 12-21-2008 03:53 AM

470

... 30 to go.

Unless your calculator has been run over by a 200 ton truck, LOL.

Did I ever mention the time I left a roast on the counter to cool, went to go potty and came back to find NO ROAST! My dog Reba was running around the house with it in her mouth. She didn't eat any of it, washed it off and served. I told the kids after dinner :)

You KNOW me much too well OPERATOR...much too well! :)

Operator265 12-21-2008 09:30 AM

I know some men like to think they're deep and complicated, but I prefer the ones who know they are just simple creatures. That's why I like you Gary. I mean, you spell it out right there with the first two letters of your handle, EZ.:) A little food, sex and a scratch on the belly every once in awhile, and Ang has you "Walking the Line.";)

Operator265 12-21-2008 09:40 AM

Oops, sorry, I almost forgot the beer.

You're working way too much if you almost forgot the beer. Shame on you!

Operator265 12-21-2008 11:15 AM

The X is on his way over for Xmas. If he forgets the real beer, there will be **** to pay.

WELL kick :kickbutt: me in my jingle balls....:snowball1

Operator265 12-21-2008 06:36 PM

OK, I can rest easy now. My dumbass X decided to listen to me(for once) and head over today before wave after wave of storms hit tomorrow. It's bad enough I'm gonna have to work in this stuff, but I really didn't need to be worrying about him trying to get here from higher elevations. He may be a dumbass, but our girls don't need a dead, dumbass daddy for Xmas.

PS. You know I love ya EZ.:mrsclaus:

EZMONEY 12-21-2008 09:35 PM

I know you do OPERATOR!

Prayers the 'ol man makes it safe and sound AND you all have a great visit!

Operator265 12-21-2008 10:24 PM

He's here, safe and clear and he even brought the beer. Rah, rah!

We're trying to get it there for ya Ruthie, but, there's only so much Slash, EZ and I can do. Some others are just being way too lazy. They may have to pony up and get you a pool boy with chocolate for under your tree.

BillBlueEyes 12-22-2008 04:06 AM

480

...20 to go for Ruthie

Just doing my bit.

Glad your beer arrived safe and sound Operator, along with its courier.
