I'm glad you asked this. I would never have guessed feet get smaller, but now it just makes sense.

Cool! (ahem but God, if I can have an opinion my feet fat can go last!)

One day she said (I think it slipped out...and then she did ALL kinds of backpedaling) "your feet aren't exactly fat. They're just puffy". Ouch. I always had to get wide shoes, and even those didn't always fit. Nothing strappy - it dug into the foot fat. I was NOT happy with the shoes available to me.

Fast forward to me getting fitted for running shoes a month ago. She measures me, says I'm about a 9.5. In RUNNING shoes! And then she said "do you normally wear a narrow, or do you just stay in standard width? You're right on the border".

I may or may not have cried. Which required all kinds of explanations to the poor salesgirl ("I'm so sorry. See, I used to be really obese, and my feet were so big and I could never find shoes and I had to order WIDE and its just so ridiculous that I'm crying but I can't imagine ever being a narrow and gosh, I'm so sorry..." Yeah - THAT wasn't embarrassing)
hahaha! that's so great yeh my dad used to tell me, hey look at the convertable, you can use it as a roller skate... lol I can't wait untill i cry because i CAN fit into a size 11 10 or 9

I was a 9 1/2 W - 10 W. Now I wear a size 9B (regular). That was from losing 100 pounds. I have to lose another 50-70 pounds; I might lose more in my feet

I never tend to lose in my feet as far as length (going from a 10 to an 8 1/2 or anything like that) but I do go from a wide width to a regular width.

The main thing for me, with shoes, is my ankle area. I have big, stocky, muscular calves (even when I am at goal) but when I am obese, my ankles get fat, and they look like tree trunks that go into my feet. However, when I lose weight, the ankle area slims down. THAT to me, makes me feet look so much better, because I can wear strappy heels without looking like an idiot...or I can wear hiking boots (that go above the ankle) without them feeling like they are going to cut the cicrulation off in my feet.

So, with me, I always wear a size 9...but I go from a 9 wide with NO ankles, to a 9 regular WITH ankles.

I've gone from a wide to medium width in a 10. Then again I have worn a size 10 even when I was under 150lbs lol So not expecting it to go down length wise either probably will go down to narrow again though

So yeah, um water skis here!

I've gone from a 12W to an 11, I'm hoping they continue to shrink.

The only thing that's changed for me is the width: my wide shoes are now a bit too loose.

(I wear a size 12, too.)

But, as another poster mentioned, I also have been wearing a size 12 since I was in my early teens. (I'm 36 now) Talk about trauma! Back then I was stuck wearing uncool grandma shoes, sneakers, or way out-of-fashion stuff since anything remotely trendy didn't come in my size!

I've made up for it in recent years, though, and am building an impressive shoe closet to rival the one Imelda Marcos had.

Hahaha, thanks to payless I have a couple nice shoes, but that's from over 4 years of popping in all the time to check, because they always LACK the 12's since they go the fastest.

Roaman's and Lane Bryant (or whatever they call their catalogue now) usually have some cute shoes in size 12, and they're pretty inexpensive too.

Other places I've ordered shoes from are:

Silhouettes
Massey's (sort of expensive)
Zappos (great selection, even has big name designers)

I've gotten a few pairs of shoes from Payless, too, but like you mentioned they don't seem to have enough of the cute stuff in size 12's very often. Bungholes.
