Aren't you glad this wasn't your wedding?
http://video.yahoo.com/network/10028...0199&l=4418225
I would not be very happy if this was my wedding..... |
i would cry :(
|
yikes.. if that had been me in my wedding dress I probably would have needed lots of help getting outta that pool since my wedding dress was so heavy with all the petticoats and layers it had. No I wouldn't be too happy either. Was it just me or did he seem to be staring at the bridesmaids' boobs?
|
OMG...but I'd guess I'd rather be the bride than the best man. After enough time (and I do mean years, if not decades) you can come to treasure disasters like that IF (1) no one got hurt and (2) it's not your fault.
Assuming the bride didn't go ballistic and took the dousing in some sort of stride, she may be able to look back on it with some of the humor inherent in the situation. But the best man is probably saddled with a lifetime of guilt. |

If you keep watching there are other videos.... I can't believe that dog ate that entire burrito in like 2 sec. |
As a wedding photographer ... I gotta say ... if you're going to plan your ceremony standing on the edge of a swimming pool, with your attendants one step below you ... you can't really get too upset.
It's pretty obvious from the clip that the best man tripped and none of it was even remotely intentional. This is truly the kind of thing I warn my clients about. Think very carefully about WHERE you're going to stand for your ceremony. I've had clients get married outside where the sun shone through the bridesmaids dress and made their skirts transparent. Nothing that can be fixed in any of the photos. I've had brides decide they want to get married next to a fountain and wound up drenched from the spray. I've had brides decide that they want a chocolate fountain at their outdoor reception and then gotten covered in streaming chocolate when the wind hit the chocolate while they were standing in front of it. A lot of times brides get caught up in some vision they have and forget the practicalities. It sucks, but you know ... they will laugh about this later. They really will. Just like my husband and I laugh about the fact that the jeweler lost my wedding ring and the caterer brought 30 lbs of unshelled, uncooked shrimp. :) . |

Luckily the bride had a good sense of humor about it. ;)

In addition to Photo's post...Children are so cute and sweet in their little tuxes and dresses, aren't they? BUT, do not expect to have a perfect wedding with children involved, even in the audience. You've got to have a sense of humor about it.
My DD was a flower girl at my sister's wedding. We found out the minister was a "professional" singer when he broke into The Rose by Bette Midler(He hadn't done this at the rehearsal). Scared the living crap out of DD and the rest of us too, BTW. She turned around and ran to her grandma's lap. I, myself, broke into a major giggle fit and spent most of the ceremony with my face in my X's lapel. Dude seemed to think he WAS Bette. Anyhoo, DD finally got the nerve to go back up front. Next, Mr. Minister Man breaks into Unchained Melody. DD starts kinda doing the Twist and when he went for the high note she gave a big high kick in a hoop skirt, exposing the audience to a full view of her underwear.:o Thank goodness my older sis got her some frilly panties so everyone didn't get a view of her terrycloth training pants.:^: Oh yeah, another added surprise was hearing the minister admonish BIL to remember that he should not be abusive b/c she was "THE WEAKER VESSEL". OMG!!!!!!!! You can see in the video where my sis turned to look at him with her jaw on the floor. Dude, we are a family of very strong women. Not one man married to us would EVER call one of us a "weaker" anything. So please, be sure the rehearsal is done as it will be at the ceremony. We expected surprises out of the kids going in, that creates the fun memories. The minister took us by complete surprise. |
well i'd like to see more of the video/reaction :)
Honestly, I think I'd laugh at it if it was me. Only sucky part is photographers cost money and couple wedding photos/group wedding photos take place after the ceremony (generally?). |
Oh my gosh! Do you think that man helped with the dry-cleaning bill? I'm going to pretend he did...That would make me cry! I'd laugh later, but still... I feel sorry for the bride and the best man.
|
I probably would have screamed with laughter if I was the bride :) Then insisted that the rest of the ceremony carried on in the water... AFTER dragging the bridesmaids and the groosmen down into the water with us.
Of course that' sjust my sense of humor and making the best of the situation :) |
Holy Crap!! :0 That would be so horrible.. Wow :p
|
Snopes has it as a fake, still pretty horrifying!
|
I would've ran home crying. Glad it could be a fake!
|
Ok, I can't see where on Snopes it's shown as a fake. I searched the whole "wedding" section. Can you show me a link.
Given all the things I've seen at weddings over the last 15 years, I"m inclined to say it's not a fake - the video part looks pretty real. Unless it was staged? I dunno. Even if this one was staged, I guarantee that some bride somewhere has fallen into a pool in her dress (not intentionally). I've seen too much craziness to say that it couldn't have happened. . |
The poor bride! Though I did one worse when I was a flower girl... I puked on the bride in the middle of the cerimony. It wasn't pretty, but she handled it pretty well. It's funny though, I was never asked to be a flower girl again...

Eh. No biggie. I tend to cross reference most of what I see on the web with Snopes, so I was suprised not to find it in their online list. ;)
. |
I didn't know snopes had a forum! I found the thread and many people think its fake but no one really knows.

Yeah, I was just reading the thread. Some of the reasons for believing it's fake are making me laugh out loud.
Most of the weddings that I photograph where there is also a videographer, the groom and the minister are mic'd for the video. Also the videogs I tend to work with are pretty high end (usually there are 2 or more cameras present) and the production quality is outstanding. So "the video isn't bad enough to be real" comments are kind of cracking me up. Like I said, given all the weddings I've photographed, I'd tend to believe this is true more than not. Even if *this* isn't true, I'd be willing to believe it has happened before to more than one bride. . |
I don't think she looks to happy about the whole thing. If it were staged I think there would have been a little more happening in the water besides "how do I get out of here".
|
yeah, if you were going to stage a bride being pushed into the water, wouldn't you add a bit of bridezilla to it? Also, the cameraperson has to navigate around people in his/her way. If it was staged, I'd think there would be a clear path for the camera.
|
I think I would of laughed. I think. Guess I'd have to be in the moment.
