Yeah my diamonds came from Canada as well. The jewelry store we went to had a ton of Canadian diamonds.

Of course if you are really against the industry, in all truth, the entire diamond industry furthers the issues with diamonds, no matter where the individual ones come from. I do wish we would branch out more and include more gemstones rather than linking diamonds automatically to engagement rings.

A lot of people dont seem to know. I kinda just want to say "it's real" and be done. But I also want people to be aware of why I'm getting the lab diamond, again, a lot of people dont know about the turmoil of diamond mining.
So I'm torn.

Most people don't ask "Is that real?" because that's tacky & awful.

However, if you'd like to share the story behind your diamond, and why you chose a lab created, then by all means do. "We got a beautiful lab created diamond. We wanted to avoid putting money into the blood diamond market."

I must admit that most people who aren't closely related to you won't care what you chose or why. That's why picking something you want is so important.

If you want an ethical straight-from-the-earth diamond, get a Canadian one. If you'd like a diamond, and money is a little more important get a lab created one.

This is true. Honestly, I like my ring, but I never understood why people were all that gaga for diamonds anyway. They aren't rare. At all.

And I prefer colors & interesting patterns on jewelry. The one advantage a diamond does have is that it goes with any outfit. And... well they are pretty sparkly.

Oh and if you do want a gemstone that looks like a diamond, I mentioned it but here is a website dedicated to mossonite:
http://www.moissaniteco.com/

There are many out there as well.

I'm with you! But yes, I've heard it before. And if they dont say something, you can sure tell they're thinking it!

Btw, Blue Nile does not deal in conflict diamonds.

Diamond Nexus is who I'm looking at. They seem reputable.

I vote for an antique diamond. They are so original and feel so special. That said, I like my plain gold band. My husband and I chose to invest in art instead.

Wouldn't matter to me - as long as it was pretty and sparkley, and no one could tell!

I am hugely against blood diamonds, and mined diamonds in general, because I despise De Beer's business practices.

I'm a big proponent of lab created diamonds, and if I ever get engaged/married I wanted either a lab created diamond or a lab created precious stone.
