Am I the only one?

Ok, so on both legs down by my shins, I have a dent thing. I guess it's always been there. about 6 inces above my ankles on both legs. So I know it's not from injuring myself or anything. I think I've really started to notice them since I've been losing weight. It's just dents, under it, it feels hard like bone or something. My Mom seen my legs today and she was like "Whats with those dents on your shins?"... OMG.. am I the only one with weird dent like things on my shins? :o

Seriously?! WHOO HOO! I'm not a freak then. My friends say I am. My one friend said she THINKS she has them, but only SOMETIMES when her legs are in CERTAIN positions. lol. Mine are always there though, big dents, 24/7

I've got two kinds of dents. One is exactly as you describe, it seems to be caused (I suspect) from a fat pocket that creates like a "valley" in my leg. I've got them in my arms too. Though on the arm, it's less a dent than a weird bulge. On one arm it's actually a "fat tumor" caused by scar tissue from a seat belt injury during an accident. My doctor said that it will eventually become less noticeable as I lose weight, but it could actually look worse before it looks better (a little weight loss could make it look worse, but a lot of weight loss will make it look better).

I also get the temporary kind ALOT. Fat is like "play dough," sometimes. If I lean against a table leg or edge of a desk or something (or wear socks with alot of elasticicity) I'll see impressions in the skin from the object that will last quite a while. Once I leaned against a tin box with raised lettering, and you could see and read the reversed lettering for several minutes. My husband found that REALLY funny (a lot more than I did).

yup that's normal!
mine are gone now.. I don't even know when they disappeared..
but if I hold my arm a certain way it's so gross.. You see the muscles protruding out (making my arms look HUGE) and then you see the flabbiness under it.. it's annoying. Hope those go soon!

Lmao. Thanks ladies.
I'm hoping these horrible looking "dents" disapear as I lose weight.

I have dents ( ) a few inches from my knee cap... makes my legs look ugly but what can you do LOL. Oh and a big ol dent on my forehead LOLOL

Starrynight 08-28-2008 02:54 PM

My husband is thin as a rail and he has them. I had them when I was very thin. I always assumed it was just how the muscle sat over the bone.

All right you guys, you just got me busted by one of my peeps - they saw me through the window of my office door examining my legs for "dents" - I said I thought I felt something bite me :o

carinna 08-28-2008 03:01 PM

Yep, completely normal. :D

I can't even tell you how many dents I have in my shins. I have been hit by so many grounders -- funny, as I am writing this I just ran my hand up my shin and I can feel all of them. Battle wounds, that's all. I think they add character, Luvja!
