Here we go again 08-19-2008 11:49 AM

I hadn't seen that! That guy was obviously smoking too much. I'm surprised he didn't get hurt.

36Paws 08-19-2008 11:55 AM

actually in the end of the video you can see him lying on the ground on the pavement...... so he did get hurt.... the question is how badly.....

as far as what was he thinking????? I dont think there was to much thought involved in this at all.....

Of course, you all did notice the gender of the non-thinker in question? I think that pretty much explains it

Operator265 08-19-2008 12:01 PM

It's possible he was thinking, "If I do this, maybe the video will go Viral!"

Thank God I wasn't the only one laughing.

I don't even really feel bad for him, just his own sheer stupidity. :dizzy:

I honestly have to say that I'm not surprised at all. We used to hit the surf along the Texas Gulf Coast anytime a massive storm was coming in. Thrill seekers are thrill seekers and as long as its not the eye of the storm, it is sometimes the only opportunity to catch decent wind or waves in those locations. He just got caught up in a bad wind current, but he'll be back doing it all again with his buddies. I'm sorry he got hurt, but isn't risk part of why they do it?

If you go to the beaches of the world when there is a good storm rolling in, whether tropical depression or hurricane or cyclone, someone will be surfing or wind surfing those waters up until the last possible minute. The stupid ones are the ones out in the water when the storm makes landfall. 6-24 hours in advance means great waves, man, great waves...wish I was still on the coast. Sigh.

I think the question should be "Was he thinking - at all?"

carinna 08-19-2008 01:08 PM

He did get hurt. Supposedly he's in critical condition. Idiot.

36Paws 08-19-2008 01:12 PM

he actually reminds me of my students at the U.
absolutely reckless
we get alot of snow here so what they do is they find a kid who has a SUV they pack the top with snow...... and then someone will lay on top of the packed snow.... another kid will then drive the car into a snow bank so the kid laying on the top of the vehicle shoots off of it like a missile into the snow bank....

I keep waiting for some kid to break their neck or really harm themselves...

thrill seeking is one thing..... but the other part is having no understanding of mortality.....

I saw it and I bet he is regretting it now. It looked like it hurt bad! I know he was stupid for trying it but man...I feel for the guy.

Ouch! I wonder how old he is.

tamaralynn 08-19-2008 07:03 PM

Good god... If I knew a hurricane was coming - I'd be finding shelter - not trying to find thrills.

I feel for the taxpayers and/or other people on his insurance plan.

People deserve what they get when they do stoooopid things like that... I don't feel sorry for them...

GatorgalstuckinGA 08-19-2008 09:00 PM

And the winner of this years DARWIN AWARDS goes to him!!!

Hat Trick 08-20-2008 09:40 AM

Wow you guys are tough. Sure he should have thought ahead of time but my guess is he's fairly young and the young believe they are invincible but calling him stupid, idiot and he deserves whatever happens to him? Yikes, hope you don't judge everyone's mistakes so harshly. BTW, he slammed into the building towards the end of the video and is in critical condition in the hospital but expected to make a full recovery. I hope he doesn't have any lasting damage.

thatgirl1024 08-20-2008 09:46 AM

People are so dumb that they would pay to do that!!!! LOL

JayEll 08-20-2008 10:08 AM

I hate to see anyone get hurt, but he was doing a really stupid thing. I'm so sorry for him. I hope he recovers fully, too--and I hope that when he recovers, he doesn't just go "Wow! Awesome!" and turn around and head for the beach. But I think the chances of him doing just that are pretty good.

Wow, I cannot believe that. Thank goodness it sounds like he's going to be okay though.

Very well put. Oh, and I don't think anyone here wants the guy to be permanantly injured, or doesn't hope he fully recovers. But there's no other way to slice it, he did something really dumb. And he's now reaping the consequences. Such is life. :(

Loriann7 08-20-2008 01:58 PM

If he was thinking it sure was with an EMPTY HEAD. :P
