So "THIS" Is What America Wants!

Well I read THIS in the paper this morning...

Seems like THIS might be what we want...

FROSTING SHOTS!

nelie 07-31-2008 01:35 PM

EZ - Stop reading the newspaper.

That is disgusting. I've always hated frosting and I'd scrape it off cake.

blondebritbrat17 07-31-2008 01:40 PM

Yuck...I always scrape off most of the frosting off of cake and etc.. since I only need very little to satisfy me since often times it's so sweet or it's cheap frosting that's just disgusting. I cannot imagine the calories in those.

Ija 07-31-2008 01:47 PM

I have to admit, while I've never done an actual frosting shot, I have eaten frosting straight out of the tub with a spoon. :twirly:

Agreed NELIE, if you stop "baggin" on our old taco shops! ;)

yoyonomoreinvegas 07-31-2008 02:11 PM

Would you put.down.that.paper! ;)

Well, I'm only admiting this because you don't really have a clue who I am and will probably never meet me IRL, but old habit me would have gone for that BIG TIME. Probably would've done so many *shots* my driving would have been impared. Any time there was cake, I always held out for a piece with a big flower or something (as long as it was buttercreme or cream cheese. That whipped cream stuff was just a cheap imitation as far as I was concerned - I wanted the highest fat content I could possibly get ) and (TMI warning - pretty disgusting) when helping clean up, I would arrange to be alone in the kitchen so I could snatch bites of the frosting other people left on their plates :o:o:o:o:o:o Sooooo happy I'm over that!!!

Um, so, donut shops and bakeries are going to pick up the slack and take over for the fast food places that won't be allowed to open under the new moratorium?

What!? me!?

Those taco shops were part of my downfall.

blondebritbrat17 07-31-2008 02:14 PM

Yoyodieter- Amen to the cream cheese or buttercream frosting.. none of that cheap stuff.

GradPhase 07-31-2008 02:14 PM

Oohhhh!!! That's what **I** want!!!! (Don't judge me!)

Kim_Star060404 07-31-2008 02:33 PM

I have to admit, that I would do a frosting shot. It looks delicious. Thank goodness there are no bakeries within 3 hours of here that would consider doing such things. Maybe one day, after goal, I'll go to the big city and have one...off to daydream now...

CandyKisses0204 07-31-2008 02:34 PM

Im SOOO with you eskimo. MMMM FROSTING!!!! Good thing there is nowhere around here with them. Id be in trouble.

Megan1982 07-31-2008 02:58 PM

Yeah I'd definitely go for the real butter and buttercream frosting. Or even better, cream cheese frosting!

Ahem, I mean, uh, I've never eaten straight frosting. Nope. Despicable.

My frosting days are mostly behind me. But I had plenty of "enabler" friends in college who I know still eat straight frosting, because last month when we went to help a friend get ready for her wedding they asked me if they could "help" frost the cupcakes for the reception, took spoonfuls of frosting, and walked away. Thank goodness I had someone else who was really helping me! BTW they are size 0's and eat 100% junk food, all the time. They were blessed with better metabolisms than I. I emailed them the article, lol.

Ija 07-31-2008 03:16 PM

Glad I'm not the only one!

aphil 07-31-2008 03:23 PM

I think it depends...cheap frosting from a $2 can, or a grocery store bakery-NO way, but from a high end place like Babycakes, where she uses the best, fresh ingredients...I'd have to say that I'd try one.

JulieJ08 07-31-2008 03:33 PM

$1.50 for a frosting shot!? I guess not everyone is feeling recessional. :dizzy:

nelie 07-31-2008 03:34 PM

My mom used to bake cakes for family functions and also work functions. People would beg her to make cakes and she would make frosting. I'd help her make the frosting and it was actually one thing she never had to worry about me dipping into.

(She made all sorts of frosting, and none of them I cared for)

itsnotme 07-31-2008 04:29 PM

The first meeting of Frosting Eaters Anonymous will now come to order.

My name is itsnotme and I am a frosting eater. It has been 7 days since my last frosting shot. (sob).:(

ANOther 07-31-2008 04:33 PM

My secret vice #5,280: brownies are ok with the frosting but divine without it! I just love to bite through the crust into the interior! From time to time Whole Foods has the most glorious cream cheese brownies with the cream cheese mixed into the body of the brownie itself and no frosting. Then for the longest time they don't have them; then last time I was there they had trayloads of them again, this time with cherries mixed in, and since I'm no overwhelming fan of cherries under any circumstances, and adding them to brownies is heresy, I backed off. Probably for the better in the name of the diet, but am I going to regret it for the rest of my life?

CountingDown 07-31-2008 04:37 PM

I think that is why I took up cake decorating years ago. I could make my own scrumptious frosting and eat all of my "mistakes". I can't begin to count the number of frosting flowers I consumed over the years. UGH - the thought of eating frosting out of a shot glass makes me gag now.

Kim_Star060404 07-31-2008 04:55 PM

Well, I don't eat cake that often, and frosting even less. Sounds like a divine treat for me. Cake decorating you say? Wonder if there's a market for cakes made from a box with gourmet frosting in Alpine?

evilwomaniamshe 07-31-2008 05:07 PM

Wow,
That would sooooooooo be up my alley. Frosting shots, yum- yum! I will admit it here, my favorite dessert is white wedding cake, birthday cake with sweet buttercream frosting, the thicker the better! I always get a corner piece because it has the most frosting, and heck ya I take a piece in the middle too with all the high frosting flowers, and most people will give me the frosting off of their pieceof cake too, that is how much I like frosting! I have a lil cake with my frosting if you will.......

I would love to have a shot of frosting, **** ya and only $1.50, S-W-E-E-T! On special occasions, my hubby surprises me with a miniature white cake covered in sweet buttercream frosting or a few sugar cookies with the same thick frosting, man they are my favorite and I still eat them occasionally when I need my frosting fix so to speak, everything in moderation yanno. And ahem, just for the record none of that coolwhip crap frosting for me, bleh!

If I ever come across one of these frosting shots in my travels, I can almost guarantee, I will be booty up to the bakery bar for a shot of frosting, I can bet my sweet @ss on that one! I'll just have to workout a lil longer after eating the straight up frosting, but damn, it sounds pretty S-W-E-E-T to me!

EZMONEY 07-31-2008 05:16 PM

Angie was on her way to see her mom when I posted this. I told her about it when she called to say she was there safe.

She started cracking up! She saw an episode of REBA the other day (you would have to know the show to appreciate this) ~ seems Jake was caught by Van sneaking frosting out of a can with his fingers...Van said "that's no way to eat frosting" He then proceeded to get out a loaf of bread and make a frosting sandwich :D

evilwomaniamshe 07-31-2008 05:30 PM

I'd probably enjoy that too, on whole wheat of course!

bananapancakes 07-31-2008 11:30 PM

I've heard it all now :fr:

shelby897 07-31-2008 11:46 PM

Sorry, too many flashbacks on this one -- not a big frosting eater. Besides, how do you get it out of the shot glass? I like my shots to pour nicely into my mouth (and provide a little kick!!)

When I was little (probably 1 to 2) my sister was caught eating a can of frosting with a spoon (which had been for my other sister's B'day cake). Before my parent's could catch her -- she apparently smeared the frosting on her spoon across my lips and put the can in my lap and my gulible parents believed that I did it!!! :D

With your finger, of course ;)

chickybird 08-01-2008 03:30 PM

My grandma actually eats peanut butter sandwiches with chocolate frosting. I admit, the frosting shots don't sound that bad to me, but I've NEVER been able to try her sandwiches. And I love chocolate and peanut butter!

grneyedmustang 08-01-2008 03:47 PM

I'd do a "frosting shot"...mmmmmm...especially Publix Buttercream....it's making my mouth salivate right now. Maybe I need to go visit the "food porn" thread... :D

murphmitch 08-02-2008 04:17 PM

Mmmm, love frosting! But what I love even more than frosting is the gooey moist cake stuff that sticks to the bottom of the pan after the cake is eaten. When being served cake I always go for the piece with the most frosting, especially the flowers, etc. on the cake!
