Songs to play for dancing with baby?

I have a few songs to dance to with Jake, but I need some more suggestions so I'll have enough for a good cd (or two or three!!!!)!! Nothing with sexual overtones, please :)

Some of the songs I have in mind--to give an example of what I'm looking for--are:

Walkin' on Sunshine by Katrina and the Wave
You Can't Hurry Love by Phil Collins
Lucille by Kenny Rogers (want the boy to know how to waltz, ya know!)
Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins (to slow things down)
Let's Hear it for the Boy by Denise Williams (I think she's the one that sings that)

And, y'all are going to think I'm an idiot for asking this, is that song "Hey Ya" sexual? I like to sing the "shake it like a polaroid picture" part to Jake with his name instead of the word "shake." :o And, who sings that?

What, no "Baby Baby" by Amy Grant??

Ohhhh, good one! I have that cd, too--how come I didn't think of it?

That's why I came here! :D

Hey Ya is by Outkast and it's kinda sexual.

But, if you're just goofing around and having fun, I don't think it should matter. I mean, "Oh Mickey" is about a girl with a crush, but I think it would be perfectly suitable for dancing around with a baby - changing the lyrics to "oh baby, you're so fine" of course.

Here's a few!

"Wonderful World" and "The Harder The Come" and "I Can See Clearly Now" by Jimmy Cliff
"Take Me Home Country Roads" by John Denver (I personally love the Toots and the Maytals version, more dance-able too I think)
"Our House" by Madness
"Should I Stay or Should I Go?" by The Clash

Well you can tell the type of stuff I listen to...
There should be some U2 can throw in too.

Ha - Shake Your Booty just came on my iPod. It's a great song "shake shake shake, shake the bay-bee" (gently of course!!!)

Dang, that Outkast song would be perfect if not for that second chorus. I'm tempted to put it on there anyway.

I already "Jake his booty." "Jake Jake Jake--Jake Jake JAKE!!! Jake your booty!"

Who's the biggest cornball at 3FC?

modkitten, I'll be using some of those, too!

This is great! I'm truly hoping to get enough tunes for several "crank up and dance" cd's!

Great workout and great bonding!

Love you outloud by Rascall Flatts just came on the ipod - this might be good :)

I heard a couple of others this morning - oldies!

"My Guy" - Mary Wells (I think?)
"Dream Baby" - Roy Orbison

One more Jake/shake song: "Jump in the line" by Harry Belafonte :) :carrot:

And how about the quintessential dancing baby song (Ally McBeal fans represent! :D) - "Hooked on a feeling" by BJ Thomas.

Just popped on my iPod: "The Safety Dance" - Men in Hats

Great ideas! Keep 'em coming, please! I've decided that anything I don't use for "Jake's mix" I may use on a walking tape for me! I've come up with a few more, too, like "Dancin' in the Dark" by Springsteen and maybe something by John Cougar Mellancamp--not sure what yet. Oh, and "Take on Me" by A-ha.
