We've met a lot of our friends through online resources. Granted, many of them live far off, but hey, it gives us an excuse for vacations. ;)

I don't know your religious beliefs, but church is about THE best way to actually meet people.

And some of the best people to get to know? Your neighbors. I've lived many places where I never knew my neighbors. And yet I've gotten to know many of my neighbors where I am now by two simple routines...working in the yard and going jogging in the neighborhood. I'm not so afraid to just stop and talk to people now too, as I used to be. I'll pick up a conversation now when people wave or acknowledge me. Another way to know the neighbors is to have a yard sale. So when they did the community yard sale our first summer here last year, I joined in. And many of them recognized me from seeing me running down the street. LOL
