I would love it if Ina would invite me to dinner! I think she is the warmest, most natural ... though she is overweight, she is so gracious and beautiful. I'm in the process of collecting all her books.
I used to make fun of Sandra Lee until I read about her hellish childhood, which I think she finally escaped from at about 15 years old. Since then, I feel bad saying too much about her. It's a miracle she's walking around! I love Paula's food, and visit her restaurant when I'm in Savannah. Stood right beside her at the buffet table, and met her charming sons! But she gets way too silly and over-the-top at times. Her sons were being interviewed by the guy on CNBC (?) the other night, and they had her on remote TV. She said to her sons, "I could just come right through that camera and lick you ..." :dizzy: I can hear people saying, WHAT the h*** did she just say? I'd like Giada better if she wouldn't wear such plunging necklines ... I am not over Rachel yet; I will sit through two of her shows and enjoy it. :) I still like Emeril, but on the "Essence of Emeril" where he's alone, teaching you to cook. Also like Robin Miller ... But the Food Network is NOT good for our diets! :) |
I used to love the Food Network! But we got rid of our tv and it's not even an option for basic cable where we moved to anyway.
When we did have a tv we loved Alton Brown and the original Iron Chef! I was never very keen on Bobby Flay or Emeril though. I did catch one episode of Nigella Lawson's show last August and was disappointed that she lacked the personality that comes through in her books. I LOVE her cookbooks. They are humorous and her recipes always turn out. Maybe I just caught the wrong episode? |
I love Alton Brown but got addicted to Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC before ****'s Kitchen. I laugh hysterically whenever it's on because there are a LOT of bleeps.
The key to Sandra is not to watch her show. The Food Network website has her recipes. Plus, only a functional alcoholic would coordinate their outfit with their drapes... Lately, I have become an epicurious.com addict. They offer all the recipes ever printed in Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Self and tons of others, along with user feedback and ratings. Last night, we had avgolemono (I used 6 egg yolks instead of 8) and I can't wait to try the Lemon Panna Cotta with Blackberry Sauce (need a special occasion) or the Dates with Goat Cheese Wrapped in Prosciutto. Some recipes even have nutrition info! |
Rachael ~ Robin ~ Giada....rock
I really don't have a problem with Sandra....once I have finished laughing at the outfit or theme of the day...to be honest I like her effort! |
Alton Brown totally wants to be my best friend and just doesn't know it yet ;>
