I just saw the title of this post, and knew you had to be in Canada. :lol3:
You poor love... I'm so sorry! :brr:
We're at -11C (-16 with the windchill) going up to -2 today.
Stay warm, girl!

I was raged when I found out that the dayhome would be sending the kids to school (walking).

Todd works outside (construction worker) - so he's taking the day off. So he'll drive them to school - after he drives me to work ;)

I bought a brand new winter jacket yesterday, perfect timing. My previous coat was worn and tattered, and 10 years old!

That's appalling! :yikes: I'm glad to hear you're all getting drives.
We had a couple of below -40 days last year. I work at home, so I just kept the kids home. Crazy country. :dizzy:
I hope your new coat holds up. ;)

Wow... and here I thought that it being in the single digits is really cold for me. I can't even imagine!

tamaralynn 01-28-2008 10:09 AM

I got to work about 30 minutes ago. There are 4 people out of 15 in the office today. Wow. The 4 that are here have no idea how my area is run

Hopefully some are late, otherwise I won't be taking ANY brakes today - no one to cover off the centre. YUK I can't leave students alone with their tests.

Knew this had to be a Canadian post also; we live in Northern Ontario. Last week, we had -40C's with the windchill factor; lowest actual temps were -35C in mid-January. Gee, I hope you don't send that out here.

Our Winter Carnival is starting next week, and we are sitting at -5C right now, and they are calling for rain ~ OH, NO! I agree about staying in or dressing extra well, cuz your skin can get frostbite really fast. Take good care ...

:hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

I live on the Canadian Border! I know all about cold, too! Two years ago, I think it was, we had a cold snap that lasted a week or so where the HIGH TEMP was -30 F...not a wind chill and not a low temp...this was at noon. At night it was about -40. I swear I thought the St. Lawrence River was frozen straight to the bottom. When the ice breaker came through in the spring, they said the ice was 6 feet deep. What a crazy winter that was!!

I feel your pain!! I suppose that's coming our way, isn't it! :fr:

tamaralynn 01-28-2008 11:02 AM

Well thankfully my cover off staff came in LOL. The train system is a wreck today. And about 20 percent of the city buses were not starting.

Anyway - I will keep my fingers crossed for nice weather for your winter festival!

RealCdn 01-28-2008 11:02 AM

I'm loving Southwestern Ontario right about now. Every now an then we see a winter with -40 (before windchill), but they are rare. I'm just happy it might crack above 0 today. :dizzy:

Smiling_Sara 01-28-2008 11:03 AM

It's actually about mid 30's in Wisc. I'm about to break out my shorts. lol

shantroy 01-28-2008 11:13 AM

I agree taramalynn - It's freakin cold here. Most of my office isn't here yet either. I had to park outside last night and my car was not happy when I tried to start it this morning. But It started on the first try and I made it to the gym. Hoepfully, a chinook will come along soon!

tamaralynn 01-28-2008 03:00 PM

A chinook should come in on thursday and raise the temperature to -7C YAY!!!!

Poor Todd works outside though with Graham construction - he ended up trying to call in today to say he wasn't going to make it, and their phone line is dead from the weather!

Zen Pharmacy 01-28-2008 05:04 PM

Oh man, my folks live north of the Arctic Circle in Alaska.

The coldest they've gotten this year is about -80F (-60ishC) and that's only as far as the thermometer on the school went to.

What's crazy about their weather is how often they jump from almost above freezing to negative fifty million ;>

Makes me glad I'm in a sensible place that maybe ices or snows every other year.

jtammy 01-28-2008 05:53 PM

Oh my goodness!!!! How do you ladies stand it? I would never make it there.....

Sending warm thoughts your way!:flame::flame::hot::hot::sunny::sunny:

I'm down here near Zen Pharmacy where if it ices or snows (enough to stick) everything closes down!
