OT: for cell phone owners
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00
to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial 1 (800) FREE 411, or 1 (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. |
Thanks for the info...i had heard there was such a thing, but didn't know the number. Very useful!

I have used this before. It does work well, but you have to listen to some recorded advertisements, so if I'm in a hurry for a number, I just spend the buck and dial 411 :p But if in no rush, it does work and it IS free :)

I'm not sure, but I think they only charge you extra if you are CONNECTED to that number after you request the number. Either that or you're charged after more than a few calls. DD got a charge on her phone once--and she says she uses it a lot, but this one time, she said yes when they said do you want to be connected to the number. If you can write down the number or remember it, I don't think you'll be charged.
