As much as we all hate Marcel, it makes me angry that he has been so attacked throughout the season. Everyone hates him, and that just makes him better. It makes me wonder if he would have performed as well if he had been a nicer guy.
|
Did you watch last time? If so, do you remember Steven? I think that guy, as well as Marcel, would have been the same. Nicer or not, Marcel has this "superiority complex".
|
See, I actually disagree - I think had Stephen not been on the show, people might not hate marcel so much, but its hard not to see them both when you look at him. If you look at what Marcel actually says, he brags no more than the other chefs, his people skills just SUCK and he doesn't really know how to stand up for himself without driving people to the edge of insanity - I'd be willing to bet money that he is a younger brother, and just never learned to get even without being annoying. But in terms of pure arrogance, rudeness, and all around dickishness (if I may), Stephen takes the cake.

I hated Stephen too - until after the 1st season. After watching the reunion show and his interviews, he actually went up quite a few notches in my eyes. I think Marcel has a lot of the same problems that Stephen did: they're geeks who were nervous and took their defense-complexes way, WAY over the top. They also were convenient scapegoats for Bravo to edit soundbytes out of for all of us to hate. :)
As annoying as she was towards the end, I would kill to look (and cook!) like Elia. zomg wow. Oh by the way, HEY GUYS. Yes I'm new. Yes, my name is Zee, and I'm a Top Chef addict. :D |

I love Top Chef! I started watching it last year right after my other fave Project Runway.. I'm actually hoping that Marcel wins. I think his people skills suck but he is the most creative and cutting edge. Ilan and his Spanish foods are getting older than Marcels Foam! Actually I had a hard time liking most of these chefs (except for Josie.. ) they all behaved badly - in very immature ways. I'm sure if they bring out the cut chefs to express who they would work for it will be Ilan though. Marcel's got a lot of growing up to do. I think his hair looks like Syndromes' from the Incredibles.:)

Just read on a website that Food and wine accidentally revealed the winner.
I was really hoping for Sam,but once he was gone I want Ilan to win it. |
Oh my god: Marcel IS Syndrome. That explains so much.
And I'm actually cheering for him to win as well. And yes, F&W apparently did leak the winner, it's all over wikipedia. That doesn't mean Marcel is or isn't the winner, or the loser, because I would cheer for him even if I knew he were losing. Which doesn't mean he is. Losing, that is. Yeah. |

I saw that too! Im just wondering if it was right. :?: I love Top Chef!!! Ive watched both seasons. I was so hoping Betty or Michael would be in the top 4. I cant stand Marcel. He is the equivalent of last seasons Tiffany. |
I am soo mad Sam got voted off :( He was such a cutie and a great chef!
|
Well the spoiler info was correct. Ilan won. Im so happy for him!!!
|
Yeah Ilan!!!! (and Marcel thought he had it won right up to the end - and he was not even a gracious looser - but then I knew he wouldn't be)

I was pushing for Sam from the beginning. I liked the foods he prepared, I liked his way with people, and I thought that his personal experience with being diabetic would allow him to produce healthy menus for his restaurant.
After it was just Ilan and Marcel I was conflicted. Although Marcel has NO PEOPLE SKILLS and is arrogant and snotty in my opinion, he DOES create very interesting foods! I found it great that he would put in so much time and effort into learning so many new techniques! Ilan seemed to be a lot like Sam in that he was able to think on his feet and create things that looked tasty as well as beautiful. BTW- I had Betty's sandwich/soup combination at T.G.I.Fridays. It was very good, but I think the chefs overdid the olive oil in mine the day I ordered it. It could easily be made with less oil. Cheryl |

I was rooting for Mia for a good bit of the show. I wonder who would have left if she hadn't volunteered to step down. |
Hi Mare!
Her sandwich is a portabella and roasted vegetables grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato and roasted red pepper soup. It is at the top of the luncheon section and even has her name on it! I felt bad that Mia stepped down, too. I admire her selflessness, though, in doing it. I can't imagine the pressure they all have in given so many time constraints and when they are told that they MUST use certain ingredients. I was glad to hear that on the last challenge for the winner, they got full reign to make what they wanted!!!:chef: :chef: Cheryl |
I bet it is delicious! I saw it on the show and also on TGIF's website.
