I'm not sure if it's different in Canada, but here, when I signed up for Vonage, I had to go through a thing on their wensite where I had to enter my exact address where the phone was located so that if I called 911, it would go to the nearest 911 center and my address was on record. I had to do this twice--once when I initially signed up and then again when I moved so my address and 911 center would be correct for my new address.

My DH, DD and myself have been using just our cells, and got rid of the land line, for about two years now. I really like not having the land line, because even though our number was unlisted, we still got so many calls that were irritating, then you would have to pay extra to have caller ID. Atleast with the cell phone, if you don't know the number, just ignore it and turn the ringer immediately off. I use my number as our main home number for everything.:^:

When I moved into my own place last summer I decided to get a land line. I'm so glad that I did! My cell phone bill was getting ridiculous! So now if I know it's going to be a long conversation, I call people back on my landline (or my work phone..heheh). I carry my cell phone everywhere, but these days it's mainly used for quick calls or emergencies.
