The best present for me was looking at those unopened packages in a little pile. Due to work circumstances, family and friends are hundreds of miles away, and Christmas sometimes gets a little lonely. To have so many people remember DH and me with a package -- and in this rural, mountainous area, you have to send everything through the post weeks in advance to make sure it's delivered on time, so they went to even more of an effort -- meant so much to me, to feel connected to all those people I love even if we can't be together in person. It really didn't matter much what was in those packages.
In terms of concrete gifts, though, my favorite would have to be the frozen 8-pound pre-smoked turkey from my friend. The perfect present for me, a person who never cooks. And, of course, it has the added benefit of being the perfect present to share with my kitties! Geri  |
My boyfriend cooked me (and my cat) an amazing Christmas lunch. He really enoyed cooking it as well and was really excited about cooking it (it was his first ever roast, bless him). Although I probably ate a little bit too much...
I also got a copy of '28 Days' on DVD. I love that movie!! |
hehehe. Difference between boyfriend and husband... i told my hubby he was making christmas eve dinner because i was exhausted. We had McDonalds! :)

My favorite Christmas moment is seeing how excited my 10 & 2 year old were on Christmas morning and the excitement & joy they received when opening their gifts.
Now on to my favorite materialistic gift.. I got a new diamond ring.. DH hasn't bought me a diamond since we were engaged.. we've been married for 11 1/2 years.. I've been telling him for a year that's what i'd like.and it's absolutely beautiful! It's a right hand ring. |
My favorite gift was a quiet xmas day with just my hubby and kids....no big gathering with 20-30 people...like usual.....this year every gift was so well thought out....I feel really loved and valued...hubby always always picks the perfect gifts....and this year was no exception....he makes the holidays so special in every way....and today when I went to work he got all the recycling done, and cleaned up all the christmas clutter.....when I invite a houseful of people and he knows it will be a 'mistake' he goes along and helps out and never says I told you so...he is my greatest gift.....he even helps with the food prep and runs a pile of errands.
Material wise....a massage chair that sits in my recliner...and massages my upper and lower back...heaven....too good to be true...a pedicure and a manicure....to treat myself in the spring...and loads of candles and earrings...my other vices. Liz |
The BEST gift ever for me was my son coming home from Iraq the end of November. It was only for two weeks but the best two weeks ever! So it was an early present for me.

I recieved several cooking items like a toaster oven, waffle maker, and skillet. Although I have told my father numerous times that I cannot cook, I am hoping that having things to cook with will teach me not to go out for fast food and cook healthier alternatives.
My favorite present, would have to probably be spending Christmas with my Aunt Brenda and her family. They are the most loving people, and have always helped me and supported me. My Aunt Brenda gave me a prayer box, and my little cousins gave me books. Plus I'm taking up Dance Dance revolution again because of a new game for it I recieved. |
My favourite present was waking up to my boyfriend on our first Christmas morning together! (soppy I know)
And putting on the Eeyore pyjamas he bought me, and later on the Nectarine Blossom and Honey perfume. I really enjoyed him opening his presents, new work shirts, a briefcase and a tie (from Atticus the cat!) |
A first Xmas together is pretty special....sounds like there is alot of love on this thread

I just got another great gift...it's actually a birthday present, but I had to return it and JUST IN TIME FOR THE PLAYOFFS!! I got a Peyton Manning jersey!! I'm wearing it as we speak.
Kylie...I thought you were going to say, "And then later on NOT wearing the Eeyore pajamas..."!! I'm so happy to see so many merry Christmases on here!! It truly is a great time of year!! |
My favorite Christmas moment was giving & bringing in two boxes full of gifts for our friends DK's and their little faces all lighting up at seeing how many there were, so so cute!
As for gifts, I would have to say the best presents we already had in advance, my in-laws bought us a brand new bed for our bdays/anniversay/Christmas and we bought ourselves a Brand New Car in November, we were going to wait on the new car, but our old one decided to die. We're still getting each other something else (besides the car), but it won't be until our next payday. We've been working all the holidays and overtime. Happy New Year! |

My best Christmas gift was my MIL coming to visit. I know, I know. What do you mean your MIL?! :yikes: Well, DH and her haven't exactly been on speaking terms since her divorce from his stepdad earlier this year. It's been a source of major stress for him. I don't know why, but she decided to break the silence and come for a visit. She even apologized to him while she was here! (The not speaking to him was because ex-hubby was telling her untrue things about my DH and when DH denied them, MIL believed her ex.) MIL and I don't always see eye to eye on things, and I did my best to grin and bear her. I think it was the closest thing to a "normal" holiday he's had in a loooong time. I was so happy to see DH smiling and laughing Christmas day. That was the best thing!
As far as a "real" gift goes, it would have to be the mountain bike my parents got me. Dad is an avid cyclist, so I know I got a great bike that will service me well. I just need to get used to riding again! |
