  • Oyi! Lot of Hams and Turkeys in here. One year my dad made rabbit... another year was those lil' chickens, and a few other years had seafood. Guess he's getting tired of tradition, . I think he's going with something that moos this year.

    Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo .
My parents moved, so I think it's time to map out a walk around the house.
That way Mom and I can flee the dishes with my sister.
I think it's my brother's chore this year,
    Buahahahahaha!
  • I am cooking Thanksgiving Dinner today as we can't all get together Thursday. Turkey, stuffing. mashed potatoes and gravy and of course pumpkin pie. The only diet friendly item is the turkey.
  • She loved her new toys. I was at work when she got here but Angie said her eyes lit up when she saw them and played with them for a long time

Amazing what $16.50 at the baby consignment store can do!

Of course when grandpa got home all she wanted was for me to play the music lamp.....
  • Enjoy your early Thanksgiving BARGOO!
  • Thanks, Gary. You know the hardest part of preparing Thanksgiving dinner ? Peeling potatoes !

...or at my house, trying to convince Angie why I need to make 2 kinds of scalloped potatoes!

    never works
  • The hardest part of T-Day for me is waiting until Thursday! When I'm in Canada, I swear the smell of roasting turkey wafts across the St. Lawrence.

One question: do you carve the Bird at the table or in the kitchen?

    Kitchen !
  • My Dad always carved at the table and we kids would vie for the seat beside him where we could snitch the little bits that fell off. He'd load a plate and then pass it to Mother who served the veggies and gravy from her fancy silver serving dishes. Everyone had to wait until all were served for grace. By then it was all cold, of course.

Now we carve in the kitchen, get the whole works on the table, say grace and then start passing. It works out so much better but isn't quite as elegant.

Ruth, I gave up trying to be elegant years ago.
Several years ago I was trying to buy a silver butter dish to give as a gift, was having trouble finding one. My youngest son , who was with me said, "Mom, don't you know. you are supposed to serve it in plastic tub?"
  • Bargoo, I'm old and still have little shreds of elegance lurking in the corners of my alleged mind. When you come for T. Dinner next October, I'll have the "staff" polish the sterling butter dish.

Are we "dressing" for dinner ? Should I leave my "sweats' at home
  • Nope. I used to rouge my nipples but now I dress down.

I'm going to refrain from commenting on this one.
  • Whoops! Perhaps I should go back and edit. We'll see if anyone is paying attention to this inane thread.
