Had an awesome Fathers Day....
bittersweet.... my dad, Angie's, my sil's, my nephew's have all passed on and my dil's dad is in another state and suffering results from a severe stroke several years ago... But for a few hours, church service, breakfast and visitng with them and that GRANDkid as she shared her first Fathers Day with her daddy all was well. |
Mine was bittersweet too, Gary. It was Father's Day 1985 when my DH and I bought this old house that had been out of the family for over 30 years. My Dad was very touched and delighted. Why does 1985 feel like just ten years ago?

Hey! It's the longest day of the year. How can we celebrate? Is it too early for a beer? |

My dad passed away 5 years ago. But I got to see my son get married on Fathers Day this year. And my new daughter (-in-law) got to walk down the aisle with her Dad. It made a nice new memory. My daughter got to celebrate Fathers Day with her Dad. I got to watch my nephew-in-laws spend time with their young sons. Very nice Fathers Day.

My friend Glen has three grown children One lives in Virginia, 2 live in different cities in California. He got the same identical Father's Day Card from all 3. They didn't get together about what card to send, they were purchased at 3 different stores in 2 states. What are the odds of that happening ?

geeezze . . . Not that we East coast folks ever wonder about California or anything, but just have to note that 'Whitey' Bulger, the most wanted violent criminal in Boston's history, has been found happily living in, . . . in . . . Santa Monica California - among the apricot trees and hibuscus blossoms.
Probably riding his bicyle in the San Francisco nude bicycle run. No wonder the FBI didn't recognize him. |
Sometimes I'm very glad to live in Canada so I don't need to know this stuff.

I'm on my second cup of coffee....

Outside at the rivers edge, laptop and wifi... had an awesome breakfast burrito and walked the entire town of Downieville.... twice....a great way to kill 15 minutes!

Ran all the errands between bouts of rain. What happened to Saturday?

Your Saturday ran off with my Saturday. If they breed, we may get extra Saturdays.
Shall we try for Sunday? Sun would be nice - we've had four days of clouds and rain. |

And, if I'm not mistaken, they have a baseball team "up there" also; you might try to get tickets.

Sunday - still raining one and off, but we need it so it's appreciated.
Went to see Midnight in Paris. |

Gary, Are you sure you want to hang around Downieville ? I understand only one woman has been hanged in California, and that happened in Downieville.
|
California is a scary place, right? So far I've hesitated to visit. If I ever do, I'll make sure Downieville is not on the itinerary.

Boston, on the other hand, has a dark history around that. A few centuries ago it seems local authorities agreed not to hang Mary Dyer provided that she leave town and stop saying that individuals had as much right to interpret scripture as Bishops. She left. She came back. She kept saying. She was hung. Apparently they used a refined definition of "religious freedom." |
Back in 1851 in Downieville , Ca a young woman by the name of Juanita was found guilty of murder , convicted and hung the same day it happened , she was hung from a beam over the Yuba River.
|
If this thread doesn't show more signs of life, there will be a hanging in here!

358 . . .
. . . 2 more to go until 360.

Wills and Kate are in Canada now. I'll ask as their family has had experience in this field. |
