Our civilization would not be where it is at without beer. But, the beer was an off shoot of the bread. The old, left over grains fermented then became BEER! That was about 10,000 years ago in Sumeria (now Iraq!). Later the Sumerians harvested vast crops, thought to be for bread, but later it was decided it was for BEER! Water being unsanitary, beer was the 'healthiest' thing one could drink. Long live BEER!
