how is sourdough bread legal?

I noticed on a old forum question in the SugarBusters's section of 3fatchicks, that sourdough bread/english muffins was permitted provided it was under 3 grams of sugar per serving.

I found sourdough English muffins at my local grocery store that has less than 3 grams of sugar in one serving/muffin. Seriously, sourdough English muffins are alright to eat on this plan?? As well as regular sourdough bread?

**I'm waiting for my copy of SugarBusters to come into my neighborhood library so I can read more on the dos-and-don'ts of a SugarBuster lifestyle :)

There is something about how the sourdough eat the natural sugars or something...but yes, true sourdough is ok for Sugarbusters. I wish I were more chemically oriented so I could understand and explain it. If you use the ones you found, and you don't lose like you want, you can always cut back on them and see if they make a difference. (by the way, what brand are they? If they are a national brand, I might like to try them! :) )

The brand of sourdough English muffins that I buy are a chain store brand: Fred Meyers' Sourdough English Muffings. 110 calories per muffin and 1 gram of sugar. Not sure if its available in your area of Georgia, but hope this helps! :)
