chocolate

I really, really love chocolate. (who doesn't? :dizzy: ) I've pretty much established that giving it up entirely is something that I'm just not willing to do. However, I've also established that sugar is a major binge trigger for me, and because most chocolate that tastes worth eating comes with aLOT of sugar, I can't have my beloved chocolate unless I want to wake the monster.

So...does anyone know of any dark chocolate treat (since dark chocolate is better for you than milk, right?) that does not contain sugar and is available in Canada? Or am I just dreaming? :^:

Thanks, ladies!

I found I don't have to eat sugar free chocolate to get around my sugar monster, regular dark chocolate doesn't seem to trigger my sugar binges. If I want chocolate, I either buy small single squares of dark chocolate (around 70%) or I split a candy bar with a friend. My current favorite is Green & Black's Mayan Gold which has bits of orange in it. In my area, I can find it very easily at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. I don't buy chocolate in bulk and leave it around the house, I don't trust myself that much.

Dark chocolate is definitely better than milk chocolate.

I love Green & Black's Mayan Gold as well. Our Target carries Green & Black's and it is for a really good price.

I find that dark chocolate doesn't trigger cravings in me and I usually eat it at night after dinner so that really it is the last thing I'm eating for the day.

Lindt 70% was on sale at Duane Reade last week. I stocked up on the 3.5 oz bars at the bargain price of $1.50 each. My favorite bar is the dark chocolate with "intense pear"

Like others noted, dark chocolate can satisfy your cravings without triggering a binge. I find even a square or two satisfying.

Lindt actually has 99% dark chocolate. Talk about intense! I don't buy it, but I do like their 85% dark chocolate bar. I don't go below 70% for dark chocolate.

I eat the Dove Dark chocolate and it comes in individual wrapped pieces so I only get out one.

thanks for the replies, ladies!

I had a couple peices of After Eight dark chocolate mint patties, and discovered how right you are - dark chocolate really doesn't trigger a binge like milk!

Next time I have chocolate, I'm sticking to dark:)
