Default Can I make stuffing without butter or oil???

This thought just popped into my mind. In my house we usually put the stuffing inside of the turkey, so I assume some juices and fat just get into the stuffing. However, when we make the stuffing on the stove before putting it into the turkey, we usually do it with butter or oil. It seems to me that there might not be that much difference of a taste without the butter or oil. I would think that the turkey juices would add great flavor on their own.

Before I try it on Thanksgiving, I wanted to get some opinions. (Trying to avoid surprise disaster on the day.) What do you guys think?

We have always used the Stove Top stuffing brand (about half of the seasoning packet) with adding fresh celery, onions, raisins, and/or apples. The directions on the box always say to add lots of butter and oil; we always cut the amount down some, but it just occured to me to maybe cut it all out. Do you use both chicken broth and water or just chicken broth?

Hi Tara,

Just chicken broth here (no water), but that's for stuffing from scratch. I dunno how it would work with stovetop. Maybe do a small batch this week as a trial run?

Good luck!

Cheers!

Yep. Chicken broth. You could also use low fat cream of chicken soup.
