Defrosting a turkey question
Can I take a (not sure what the weight will be) 10 to 12 lb frozen turkey and put it in the fridge on Friday the 17th (morning)? Will it be okay to cook on Thanksgiving? I am going away Friday and I won't be back until Tuesday. I just don't want the turkey to go bad but I want to have enough time to defrost.

Thanks in advance!

wow, 21 people reviewed but no one knows the answer. Guess everyone else is in the dark like me, lol!! The funny part is, I posted this on a makeup board and I got replies. Go figure! lol

I don't think so.

A 12 lb turkey should take 2 days to defrost. After that it should really only sit in the fridge for a day or two before it goes bad. But, you could probably take it out on Tuesday when you get back. Make sure you pull out the giblets as soon as their pliable enough to be removed, this will help speed up the defrost.
