Question Steel Cut Oats

Can someone please explain to me how to make steel cut oats in the microwave? Everytime I try they boil over and I end up with a big mess. I have tried putting them in a bigger bowl but they still boil over.

Help!

Thanks

I made a mess in my microwave the other morning too. I don't know how to stop it though, maybe on medium power instead of high?

I have had the same problem... Infact Ive had the same problem with making brown rice in the microwave. It just gets frothy and sticky and the water spills out no matter what size bowl I use.

I tend to do my oats 30 secs at a time, stir then heat more. Don't know if that would help with steel cuts, I don't use them yet.

I make steel cut oats in the microwave all the time. They won't boil over if you use a big enough bowl. I use one of my large Pyrex mixing bowls and it works fine.

The brand I eat is Bob's Red Mill and it takes 4 1/2 minutes at regular power to cook one serving.

I haven't tried them but my friend starts them the night before in a crockpot. And voila....in the morning they are ready. When I do rice in the microwave, they used to boil over but now I place an oven mitt on the lid of my bowl and it seems to work.
