Cinnamon Twist?

I'm craving a cinnamon twist right now, but I don't want the "bad-ness". My fault is at portion control, so I know I will not be able to put away an uneaten portion anywhere- besides my stomach.

So, does anyone know how I can get that sweet cinnamon taste without an artifical sweetner?

I was thinking along the lines of a cinnamon sprinkled bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. . . But any ideas would be great.

Personally I LOVE cinnimon sprinkled on a baked sweet potato. I probably use more butter than I should, but other than that it is really good for you.

You can nuke an apple in the microwave and sprinkle it with some cinnamon.

You can also toast your own nuts with cinnamon and sugar (obviously watch how much sugar)

Oatmeal is a good idea, or whole wheat toast

You can put a whole stick in some herbal tea, the aroma is wonderful.

PS. I used to work at Cinnabon in the mall. OMG You can't imagine how bad for you those are!! 40g of fat in ONE. Almost everyone would get extra frosting on the side. The Mocha Latta Chill is so yummy but also SOOO bad. Whole Milk, real whipped cream, tons of sugar. But it sure was tasty:devil: . Glad I was young and active or I would have been in real trouble!

What about a whole wheat tortilla with melted benecol (or other cholesterol lowering spread) and some splenda and cinnamon? I've never tried it so I don't know if it would be good...

Cinnamon is actually not that high in calories because you only need to use a tiny bit for a lot of flavor. Its a "little goes a long way" spice. The problem with it is that its almost always mixed with four or five times as much sugar. But any cinnamon-spelnda mix is a generally low-cal choice, and can be added to anything.

Every once in a while I get a hankering for that sweet cinnamon flavor, too. I don't eat a LOT of artificial sweeteners, either. The healthy sugar substitute I use is STEVIA. Use it on anything you want to sweeten, it comes in various forms. I like the plain, concentrated white powder. But you can get it diluted with other stuff so it sprinkles more like sugar, in case you want it for cinnamon toast.

Otherwise, I would bake an apple (for instance) and use the white stevia powder, and cinnamon, maybe a tiny amount of raisens.

One note: most stevia newbies make the mistake of using too much, and don't like it, because that gives a bitter aftertaste. So, just try a TINY amount. For example, on one baked apple, I might sprinkle an amount about HALF the size of a pea...if that. Try it, and you soon get the hang of judgeing how much for what dish.

Here is a good link...you don't need to buy it here, but it has lots of stevia info:

Not to be a fast food advocate, but the Cinnamon Twists from Taco Bell actually aren't that hideous for you. Here's how they break down: Cals 160, Fat 5 g, Sat Fat 1 g, Sodium 220, Carbs 27g, Fiber 1, Protein 1.
