My basic oatmeal recipe is 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 cup of water, three packs of equal, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a little salt.

Once cooked I add 1 T. of reduce calorie syrup and:

1 T. raisins, 1 T. chopped walnuts, 1 chopped date
or
1/2 of a small banana, 1 T. chopped walnuts
or
chopped apple

I always let it sit for a few minutes (removed from the heat, of course) so that the nuts and fruit and "cook". Then, I stir in 1 T. of Benefiber with calcium.

300 calories and if am really hungry I'll also have a Morning Star Breakfast Patty with it as well (80 calories).

I like to have a teaspoon of brown sugar, a little cinnamon, some fruit and ground flax seed on my oatmeal.

I use the steel cut kind (Bob's Red Mill). It takes longer to cook but I found a "quick cook" method. Add 1 cup of steel cut oats to 3 cups of boiling water, bring back to a boil, cover and turn off heat. The next morning put one serving into a bowl with a little milk and microwave for one minute. A batch like this lasts me for several days. Steel cut oats has a great "nutty" flavor and different texture than flaked oats.
