Default Nervous about Splenda?

I have been using Splenda since it came out, before that I used Sweet 'n Low. I find that Splenda tastes much better, less aftertaste. I know that all sugar substitutes have side effects, but I feel that it is somewhat blown out of proportion to the amount consumed and that people forget that sugar itself has its own negative effects.
I use Splenda now almost 100% of the time in my tea (about 6 cups a day) and when I drink diet soda I get the brand sweetened with Splenda. I am hoping that the negatives that I'm sure will surface will be minimal, as it seems like a better alternative than some other sugar substitutes.
I am a little nervous about using it, but so far I haven't been able to find proof of anything terrible with personal side effects.
Does anyone know of any "proof" of negatives from using Splenda? Anyone else nervous to use it?

I also use Splenda regularly. I limit sugar because of the empty calories, though I do use sugar in things where substitutes affect the finished product. For everything else, I use Splenda I feel comfortable with the amount of research that shows it is safe.

I agree with you about the negatives of sugar outweighing those of the substitutes. I have cut way down on soda recently and I find that has really helped pull me out of a plateau. Its actually funny because I find now that the soda, and sometimes just salt are affecting my ability to lose more than how much I eat.
I wont lose now if I have too much soda (but no gain either).
I don't know what I would do without Splenda now though, because without tea and diet soda - I don't think I could have made it this far.
Cross your fingers that Splenda turns out to be harmless!

I use Splenda all the time and have NO qualms about it. I think it is perfectly safe. All of the negative reports about it are based on conjecture, are largely promoted by competitors, and NOT on peer-reviewed research.

Am I glad to see this opinion There are too many people who believe anything they read.

I love Splenda - I don't use it that much because there's not much that I sweeten, but it doesn't have the bitter aftertaste that other artificial sweeteners have.
