Just curious as to
who else is following a gluten free lifestyle - either d/t Celiac Disease or Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity.
Some questions to get this thread rollin'
IF you have Celiac, when were you diagnosed?
How long have you been on a gluten free diet?
What is the hardest part about being gluten free for you? (non weight related)
What is the hardest part about being gluten free for you? (weight related)
What is the best part about being gluten free for you?
As for me, my diagnosis of Celiac disease was a very long process. I kept having positive bloodwork and inconclusive biopsies. I ended up, however, being diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma of the Duodenum, a common Cancer with untreated Celiac Disease. The whole process of diagnosis took about 6 years. However, I was in denial d/t the varying responses I got from doctors, and continued to eat gluten until about 1 year ago, at the age of 35. The hardest part about being gluten free (non weight related) is lack of understanding of family members and friends especially around the Holidays. Food becomes a battleground and I'm the odd one out. The hardest part weight related actually doesn't apply, bc I've lost weight being gluten free. The best part about being gluten free is I FEEL better. I also have fibromyalgia and autoimmune hashimotos thyroiditis, and being gluten free helps those symptoms.
