Chobani Greek yogurt

I have recently gotten Chobani raspberry yogurt with dark chocolate chips. It was surprisingly good. I first thought it might be a bit bitter since dark chocolate can be, and with it being fat free Greek yogurt only containing 100 calories. It's actually pretty yummy. I think the raspberry evens it out with some sweetness, so you can taste the chocolate, but it doesn't really taste bitter. I have been trying to stay pretty strict with my diet, but this gives me a little treat without feeling highly guilty later.

Have any of you tried it, or their other flavors? I haven't tried any others yet, and want to; some of them sound kind of good, but I am unsure whether I'd like them or not :dizzy: lol

I've found the vanilla one to taste a little sour/tart, but I LOVE the blueberry ones! Makes me want some right now! I haven't had the raspberry chocolate, but I've heard very good things, and want to try it as soon as I see it in the store!!

I've tried the banana and the blueberry and thought both were waaaaaay too sweet. I'd rather buy plain yogurt and add my own fruit. The texture of Chobani is awesome though!

This exactly!!

Just too much of the sweet stuff for me. I make my own jam, so if am basically going to add fruit and sugar, I'd rather buy the plain yogurt and add just a dab of my jam. :-)

I buy the vanilla in the big container and stir 1 TBSP peanut butter into 1/2c yogurt. It is amazing! Best diet dessert ever. It feels and tastes like mousse.

I buy the vanilla in big container too although I much prefer Zoi over Chobani. But I had not thought about the peanut butter... I'll have to give it a try!!!

I love Chobani! I haven't seen the raspberry with dark chocolate, sounds yummy! I usually go for the blueberry but I recently tried the apple cinnamon & it was pretty good.

krampus 04-05-2013 11:25 AM

The Chobani Key Lime Crumble "Flip" is one of my favorites.

For daily consumption I prefer Fage 2% Total plain.

I haven't been eating the Chobani daily - more like 3 over the period of the last week. I do love Fage, and the Fage with honey is awesome. But I do live on a budget at the moment, so I honestly can't afford Fage daily; it's probably the most expensive yogurt in the store here.

I will have to see if they have the key lime. I think what I saw was: passion fruit, pineapple caramel, pomegranate, fig orange, coffee dark chocolate, mango, pear, and blueberry

Quirky Chick 04-13-2013 10:10 AM

Update: I tried the carmel with little pieces of pineapple, and it was not good. I don't know if it was just the yogurt, or if it was left out of refrigeration somehow and went bad. It was very bitter. It tasted like butterscotch that someone forgot to add sugar to. My mother tried blueberry and pear, and she said those were good.

Katie816 04-23-2013 01:53 AM

Apple cinnamon is amazing. Raspberry comes in a close second.

SoMuchFattitude 04-23-2013 07:55 AM

The Chobani Coffee w/ Chocolate Chips is off the chain.

seaurchin 04-25-2013 08:18 PM

pineapple is my favorite! Apple Cin is a close second!

saintlouisgal1978 04-26-2013 01:07 AM

I prefer the black cherry and the blueberry. At almost 15g of protein for 140-160 calories, you can't beat the satiety. (oops ... and banana is awesome too!)

mimsyborogoves 04-26-2013 09:06 AM

The passion fruit kind is disgusting. Not a fan of the honey flavor either. Chobani is very hit or miss with me; the fruit flavors like peach, blueberry, pineapple, etc are good but some of those funky fruits or off the wall flavors are questionable. I can't stomach a lot of the plain greek yogurt either -- I don't see how y'all do it!

I like Yoplait Greek, Dannon Light & Fit Greek (only 80 cals! What!), and Oikos. They have a better texture and they aren't so tart in flavor.

faunaflora 04-27-2013 12:32 PM

My favorite flavor of Chobani is Pomegranate.

kaplods 04-27-2013 01:04 PM

I make my own yogurt in my 4qt crock pot about once a month. I just keep it plain in the fridge and then stir in sweetener and flavors in my serving bowl. I like mild, not-so tart yogurt, so I use a short incubation time and try to eat the yogurt relatively quickly, both of which help to keep the yogurt within the tartness range I like (yogurt gets tarter as it sits, because the yogurt culture continues to grow even in the fridge, just more slowly).

Chobani is the brand I usually use as starter other than my own. Chobani pomegranate is one of the few commercial yogurts that I will occasionally buy even if I have my own in the fridge.

Homemade yogurt is almost an entirely different animal than storebought. Every yogurt bacteria strain has it's own flavor and texture profile - you can find charts and stores online to help you identify and find strains you like. I haven't bought powdered starter yet, but I've been tempted to experience some of these differences. I use chobani, which is a multi-strain yogurt. I've made batches that were so mild they had almost no tartness at all - sort of like creme freche.

I'm sort of addicted not only to my homemade yogurt, but to the process of making and experimenting with my homemade yogurt.

I see I am not the only one who got infected with the bugs. Besides yoghurt I am now experimenting with home-made goat cheese, ricotta and mozzarella. It tastes better and is a lot cheaper besides being fun. Too bad I am on a diet.

MedChick87 04-27-2013 10:30 PM

I'm OBSESSED with Chobani's apple cinnamon yogurt. I also really like the pineapple flavor. I've never thought about getting plain yogurt and adding peanut butter...that sounds amazing!

amandie 04-28-2013 12:39 PM

Apple cinnamon yogurt?? Gotta find that!!! Sounds good.

angelsandfairies 04-30-2013 10:42 AM

I have seen the Raspberry with the chocolate chips but have been hesitant to buy it, might have to stop at the store to get some after work!

HungryHungryHippo 05-04-2013 12:05 AM

Kaplods--as always--that sounds like great advice!! I have a store credit @ Macy's, and just saw they have a yogurt maker for $29! I'm going to invest!

2fat2jump 05-04-2013 12:33 AM

I actually had a Chobani rasberry bite tonight and I really liked it. I like other greek yogurt, like Fage, for regular consumption because Chobani seems to be sweeter. That said I think they're great for dessert every once in a while.

I also tried the coconut yogurt with toasted almonds and dark chocolate. Oh man! I was in love.

2fat2jump 05-04-2013 12:34 AM

Btw there are coupons on the chobani website, which is where I got the coupon to try out the bites.

Yes, it is wonderful. I tried it after a few people mentioned it in the thread, and I loved it. Then peach and blueberry are coming in second with me.

Jennifer1966 05-05-2013 10:11 PM

I only eat Greek yogurt if its savory. I make a tzatziki-like sauce with plain yogurt, cucumber, and lots of garlic, which I can eat on anything. It's addicting.

seabiscuit 05-20-2013 11:00 PM

I tried Chobani and I was really into them for awhile, then I just kinda got bored of them. I am into the Dannon Light n Fit now, it's a different texture and sweetened with aspartame, I think but I like it better.

MadKim 05-26-2013 09:27 PM

I'm addicted to Oikos Key Lime!

laceyj 05-26-2013 09:39 PM

I like the texture of Oikos better. I add a tablespoon or more of dark chocolate cocoa powder and a packet of stevia for a low cal dessert. Less then 100 calories and so yummy. Chobani has a great Pinterest board though - check it out! Good place to find low cal delicious recipes

I toast a couple Van's protein waffles in the morning, then heat up some Splenda-sweetened apple pie filling (Wal-mart brand, or Comstock also makes a brand you can buy online) and put a scoop of the filling and a scoop of vanilla 0% Greek yogurt on each waffle. Comes out to about 300 calories for 2 waffles, fills me up and knocks out my sweet tooth. :)

MAK247 06-17-2013 08:04 PM

I am loving these new chobani flip yogurts...You guys have to keep an eye out at target, there are 2 flavors I can't find anywhere else, blueberry power (blueberry yogurt with walnuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds in the side portion) and peachy pistachio (peach yogurt with pistachios and chocolate chips in the side portion). So far peachy pistachio is my favorite. :)

madelinerose94 06-24-2013 07:43 AM

I have Chobani almost every single day. My favourites are Raspberry, Strawberry, Blueberry and Honey.
