Mini Apple "Pies"

This was pretty good!! My first time making this.

One can of crescent rolls (count of 8)
2 to 4 tbsp of butter (I used blue bonnet and only really needed 2 tbsp)
3 small apples (Originally was gonna use 4 but they were really over-stuffed already)
Lemon juice (to prevent apples browning)
1 to 2 tbsp sugar or splenda. Even honey or whatever you prefer.
1/8 to 1/4 tsp cinnamon. (I really like mine cinnamon-y.)

Melt butter in microwave then add sweetener of choice and cinnamon. Set aside. Slice up the apples thinly and sprinkle lemon juice (and cinnamon if you'd like.) Unroll can of crescents and brush each one with butter/sugar/cinnamon mix. Put a couple slices (4-5) of apples and roll up. Optional- brush again with butter/sugar/cinnamon mixture on top. Bake according to instructions on can (usually 10-14 minutes.)

These tasted like mini apple pies and approximately 175 calories for each "pie" (using splenda, light butter and 3 really small apples.) Hope I was clear enough in my above recipe and instructions and that some of you like it!!

Oooo.. this sound good!

I think I will try these with reduced calorie crescent rolls (that would be a 20 calorie a piece savings there) and I'm tempted to try them without the butter too. Maybe just tossing the apples with the lemon, cinnamon, and splenda/sugar/honey/agave? Or do you think it needed the butter?

Addition: What I LOVE about this recipe is that it is portion controlled. You don't have to weigh or eyeball what a serving size is. When I was doing some searching I also saw some recipes for pumpkin filled crescent rolls. I love that idea too! Or what about filling them with another fruit or a real fruit jam? You've got my mind going with this idea. :)

Thanks, I hope you like it. I have done this with strawberry preserves and SF cherry pie filling, neither needed the butter so I imagine your way will still be delicious just the same. :) I will do this again next time without butter.

Pumpkin filled? Jeez, now you've got me thinking about pumpkin and cream cheese together then stuffed/rolled into the crescents... Hehe.

I'm about ready to try a crust recipe that is nut based and has no flour... I have mini pie tins and they are a GREAT size.

I would love to try this with an almond "flour" crust. I bet it would be really good.
