I am looking to try out some ideas for making healthy smoothies/drinks. I like juicing tangelos for a morning drink but though maybe I could peel some and put the fruit in a blender/processor and then add some plain yogurt. (or berries, apples, plums, etc) Any other suggestions or ideas or more than welcome.
I usually do strawberry, banana, spinach, and carrot Smoothies with skim milk and yogurt. I've also done jackfruit Smoothies, mango Smoothies, and random fruit&veggie Smoothies. I always eye ball it.
Bananas were what a lot of people were telling me to use but I can't even stand the smell of them much less try to figure out how to make it past my taste buds!!
Oh yes, add some leafy greens to your smoothies; baby spinach or romaine lettuce or even baby arugula. Add to that an orange or some tangerine, which will sweeten it up if you're not accustomed to the green taste, and some apple or berries. Add a tablespoon of ground flax seed, or chia or hemp seed and enough water for the mixture to mix.

Oh, I didn't think about the flaxseed. Good idea. Would wheat germ be ok?
Awesome!! Thanks for the tip about sweetening up the green taste. I may not like the taste of greens but if I can figure a good mixture so I don't taste it as much that'll work for me. My goal is to find something that I won't use just to lose weight but will continue eating/drinking after I reach my goal weight.
What is the purpose of adding the flax/hemp seed? Health or weight benefit or simply added flavor?
