Hmm interesting on the sweetener. I'll have to try that. I usually use liquid at home but powdered at work with a little splenda. I've started drinking a cup every morning and im less hungry!

Where do you get xylitol? Any brand you would recommend?

I have one cup of coffee a day with 1/4 cup skim milk and I find that it helps keep me full in between meals and also gives me a little kick of energy to get me through class. I think as long as you use fat free milk and no sugar, coffee is fine while dieting.

I drink coffee everyday, 3 or 4 cups, but with no sugar no cream, black..
If Im in the mood I will add 1 blue package sweetener to one of my cups, i love it. Its one of the things that is helping me lose weight. :)

I use the NOW brand, it's the cheapest.

I am mostly a tea drinker, I love some coffee but I dont want to drink due to the caffine and that I need to add alot of sugar and cream or milk to even like the taste

i LOVE the smell of coffee, but i hate the taste.

in the absence of medical complications, moderate coffee consumption is good for weight-loss efforts.

I buy it from iherb.com but I think most health food stores carry xylitol

Black, neither sugar nor any sweetener, and on special occasions. I drink one cup at the office, and one if I go out --that is maybe once a week. The rest of the time, mate, the South American tea. It is not as strong as black tea, and also helps you with hunger.

I adore coffee - could drink it all day long but it would give me serious caffeine shakes (I don't do decaff :)) so my coffee machine isn't exactly overworked - one in the morning (get's things moving :D) and sometimes one in the afternoon. Oh and I weaned myself off milk and sugar and drink mine black.

I'm mourning coffee at the moment. I have such a love/hate relationship with it right now. I absolutely LOVE it and was drinking just 1-2 cups a day for awhile but found that over the last few years, it's been wreaking havoc on my blood sugar levels and moods. I started experimenting and went off caffeine entirely for awhile and found I woke up easier, my appetite was more level and my moods were balanced. When I drink coffee, it seems to make my cravings for sugar/carbs much more intense and makes me irritable by evening time.

Sigh.. so I'm drinking decaf tea and occasionally decaf coffee with just a bit of skim milk and will treat myself to the real thing here and there. I do miss it but I don't miss what it was doing to my system. It seems to help weight loss for me personally to go without it; I've read that the acidity in coffee causes fat to store in our stomach because of the release of Cortisol (the stress hormone) and the fat builds up to protect the stomach lining. I've found that when I reduce caffeine (especially coffee), it's easier to lose weight, especially in my stomach. It's a hard trade-off though.

I tried something interesting called Teecino recently - it's a herbal coffee (made from nuts/dates and various colours/flavours that simulate coffee). Definitely not the same but not terrible when you're craving coffee.

@Dernhelm- thanks for your post. I have similar issues with my blood sugar going cattywompus when I drink coffee. I'm going to try that Teecino. :)
